G&G cm16 light plastic. 400fps

Postby rjessop » Fri Feb 13, 2015 1:47 pm

So I bought 2 cm16 last week. I'm am looking at upgrading them a bit. I don't won't to do much just get them up to 400fps. Right now they are hitting in the 340-350 zone.

Stock inner barrel is a 6.08(I called g&g and asked) langthe is 275mm
Stock spring m110
Stock cylinder is ported midway through cylinder from what I understand

My thought was I would go to a m120 spring. is that will that alone push me up to the 400fps or will I need to go with a tight bore barrel as well?

Put in a tight bore and call it good. Fps isn't everything

OK that was my other thought. Would I be better off with a 6.03 or a 6.01. What length should I be shooting for?
Thanks

What weight BB are you chronoing with?

The M120 could put you anywhere between 390 and 450. It really varies. The tightbore can affect it as well.

Personally, I'd put a tight bore(6.03) and a madbull blue bucking in there.
Just the bucking made a world of difference on a couple of my AEGs

Realistically to have moderate accuracy and range outdoors, you might consider a mock suppressor and a min 300mm inner barrel.
Furthermore, I agree that the Madbull Black Python 6.03 inner barrel is a great choice for this platform. I hope this helps.

I have ALWAYS had good results with an Angel 6.01 363mm barrel off of Evike. Anything smaller then 363 will create a lower FPS. Don't change the spring just yet. This barrel should increase your FPS to about 360 to 390 FPS. All depends on your air seal. Really a 370 FPS vs a 400 FPS means nothing in the distance of your shots. Just need a good hop up bucking on your TBB and use the right weight of BB and you'll be just fine.

I have had this conversation a million times. I will continue to have it.

No, you're incorrect. Physics are, well, physics. A BB at 400 fps WILL travel further than one at 370 if all other variables are constant. Air friction doesn't magically lessen because your BB travels slower.

Now, does it matter much? No. A few feet, maybe. But it DOES matter.

Are there other variables in airsoft that matter more than 30 fps? Yes. Are there other variables that effect accuracy at range more than 30 fps? Yes. Can some of those make up for a 30 fps difference (e.g. hopup)? Absolutely.

But if you do all those things--tighbore, new hopup, etcetera AND increase your velocity, your AEG WILL put BBs further. That's simple physics.

All fields measure with .20g BB. So you are close to 400fps right now as it sits. Get a good bucking (I like maple leaf with their flat nub) and a 6.03 and call it good until something breaks. It will break at some point.

A quality 6.03 barrel will perform better than a cheap 6.01 barrel. Promy over Madbull any day. Madbull makes okay barrels, but far from the best.
