Selector Switch Not Working

Postby SewerRat » Mon May 18, 2015 3:01 pm

So my problem is as follows: My buddy was using my old Walmart Ignite M4 Viper because he doesn't currently own one. I had bought a new gun that day so it doesn't really matter, but I want it to be fixed in case I have the same scenario as that day. I'm also thinking of using the gearbox in a build, but that's beyond the point. So what's wrong with the gun is that no mater what I have my fire mode set to (Safe, Semi, or Auto), it acts as if its on safe and it won't let me pull the trigger back. My friend says he didn't drop the gun or anything, he simply ducked behind coverage when he came back up, the gun wouldn't fire because of the previously stated problem. I was told that the Selector Switch may not be hitting the Selector Plate and I'm not sure if I have to take apart the gearbox or anything. I had picked one up off eBay about a year ago and it stopped working (didn't think about charging the battery, dumb me) and I took apart the gearbox to see if anything was wrong, and springs flew all over the place. Because of this, Im not so sure how I feel taking apart the gearbox. If anyone can point me in th right direction with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm gonna say what I think most other people will say when they read this. Just so you know, I'm not being rude, I'm just telling you what I would do:

Throw it away, don't try and use cheap Wal-Mart parts to do anything. You will only waste money, and get headaches.

Tell us where you live, so we can point you in the direction of a reliable airsoft store.

Sounds like the tab that presses the mechanism out of the way broke and it's no longer doing it's job.
Are you competent in yous skills do dissassemble and reassemble the gun? Do you know how to remove the gearbox?
Of so take the gun down and remove the gear box. Take some photos and post them up.well have a better chance of telling you what's wrong that way.

I did the same thing the first time I took one apart. Gun never worked again, lol. If you have tools, and patience, there a crap load of videos on YouTube showing how to take them apart and reassemble. But I do agree that it's probably more hassle than a Wal-Mart gun is worth. Good thing is, it would be a good gun to cut your teeth on. If it goes tits-up, you aren't loosing much.
