Need Help Zeroing

Postby Sea Bass » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:41 pm

Ive gone through 3 different scopes and I keep ending up with the same problem no matter what. Ive had a lot of help but none of it seems to help. So, I just want to ask, is there something im doing wrong if I fire, measure, adjust the scope, fire again, and find out that those adjustments for 33clicks left and 45 clicks up did absolutely nothing?

Airsoft guns will never shoot same spot consistently at range. It's just how they are. Get it close, then try to predict it.

What scope are you using? What gun are you using? What range are you sighting in at?

Warrior L96, NC Star 3-9X50e scope, and from 8ft, to 30 ft. Both times did the same thing.

BB weight is a factor as well, the heavier the bb, the straighter the trajectory...for a certain amount of distance, that is.

I use a benchrest and zero my scope to a grouping of five shots fired at the target from a distance of about 30-35 feet. Fire the shots, and adjust the red dot or cross hairs to the middle of the grouping.

Why are you sighting in at that range? You should sight it in for as far as you possibly can...

It sounds like your scope isn't working/not traveling far enough. Or your gun is a shitty knockoff that is so upsidedown up it won't shoot consistently.

What I have found useful is to use a laser boresighter to get you "on the paper" then you can fine tune the POI with the adjustment knobs. You must use a fixed /known distance (suggest 100'). With any type of precision shooting consistency is paramount. I actually torque my mounts and rings and locktite em. Due to the variances in AS guns & ammo you will not get the kind of precision that you get with RS. I'm pretty happy with a 4" group in AS. In real guns I want them all on a quarter at 100 yards. Due to the quality or lack thereof in cheaper scopes, sometimes you have to shim them in the event you run out of clicks. Make sure you are using exactly them same ammo when you sight in as when you shoot. Buy the best you can afford.

Remember with your optic you are not moving the cross hairs with the windage and elevation adjustments. You are moving the bullet hole. Most people get that mixed up when Zeroing an optic.
