Ares AMP DSR-1.. fabulous or useless?

Postby ScaredShooter » Sat Feb 05, 2011 5:49 pm

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/ares-amp-dsr ... w-ver.html

What exactly does all this money pay for in this sort of weapon? I've found a variety of very costly gas bolt actions, but I'm never quite sure if they're deathly accurate, or worth it??..

Anyways, stumbled across it since I like snipers but I've always wanted to have a bullpup sniper if I were to buy one.

Thanks if you have info or can speculate with useful thoughts!

i like mine, but i also got it for less than half the retail price. its a cool collectors piece, but the only real reason to have them is simply to have a DSR1. it performs just fine, but you can get a KJW M700 that shoots just as well for a fraction of the price.

its also very, very heavy.

Can you say "cool factor" loud enough? I like it, but I agree with Beran and Hype.

COOL FACTOR!

But in all seriousness it is a very sick-looking gun (I'm a tool, sue me) and if it weren't A) manufactured by ARES and B) so effing expensive I would probably get it.

My team has one.

Its a beautiful rifle externally, but it can't hit a sheet of ply wood from 50 feet. Its also REALLY heavy, like heavier then my M82 heavy.

EDIT: sorry for the Necro... :(

if yours cant hit plywood from 50 feet, then there is something wrong with it. mine can tag a tree reliably at 150 feet shooting .36g BBs.

Hey I remember this post. That's one of my old tricks to resurrect archaic posts. You guys learn from the best. Just kidding.

It seems gas can be inconsistent with snipers here in the great pacific northwest? What about this:

A well tuned spring bolt is the best way to configure a sniper rifle for the pacific northwest. If you still want a gas bolt, find out to HPA modify the mags. Talk to Jester 316 about spring bolts, and talk to Amos or Ogrejager about HPA modded bolts.

Gas bolt=SEXY
Spring bolt=PRACTICAL
I personally think that a gas rifle would be more fun, but if you are actually going to field this, then BUILD a nice consistent spring bolt.
Maybe like KA-BAR's Scout Rifle.
