And with what gram of BB's do you want to accomplish 600fps

I would never ever ever dare using less then a .30 on your Sniper rifle. Hell I reccomend you to use a .43

The max at most events is 550fps I am not sure with what gram of BB's.

The fps is measured by a .20 bb.

All AP events are chrono'd at .20g. Meaning you would have to do less than 550FPS with a 0.20g to be cleared by AP event standards. 600 FPS with a 0.20g would not be cleared.

I am categorically opposed to the sort of player who wants an HPA rig because it gives them adjustable FPS. I am not opposed to the sort of player who wants an HPA rig because it gives them a consistent FPS. I would almost prefer some sort of lockout system for HPA rigs, meaning that once you'd adjusted it to chrono for the game, the admins had some way to tag the system so that it could be easily identified if changes were made.

Keep in mind, however, than AP's standards are not binding upon the community, meaning that if an individual/group decides to set a different standard for their event (such as SOTA's "caliber"-based FPS standards), that's on them. Tradition, of course, has made the standards listed on the AP website the standards for most any game hosted by anyone affiliated with the community.

What about that red goo (thread-lock?) you find all over Chinese gearboxes? Put a dot of it on wherever the FPS can be adjusted, and it won't move unless the user makes it do so.

Put that red goo on the thread and it won't move. Period.

An HPA rig is dangerous to say the least, and downright deadly in inexperienced hands, which is the reason that 90% of our games won't allow HPA unless it's a known and trusted member of the community that everyone knows isn't going to get pissed off like some 14 year old and dial the FPS way up to take a second shot.

Temper tantrum + HPA = injuries.

Stick with a spring platform if you want that kind of consistency, or do some standard upgrades to achieve a safe and effective velocity with your gas platform.

IDK about deadly in inexperienced hands, more immature hands. As long as someone understands the rules its merely a tool, it becomes dangerous when said person decides the rules are made to be broken.

So, if I've never done any sort of high pressure line work, I'm inexperienced. Now, what if I do something wrong hooking it up? Or my inexperience tells me to dial it up while plinking in my back yard for fun, and I go too high?

I was talking about dangerous on the field, as in to other players by way of bodily harm by high fps or short range. Yes working with high pressure gasses is dangerous, and even me never having worked with them, am mature enough to know i would need help doing it. But I see your point.

;) good point though, I did not think to also emphasize immaturity.

Could this kid be any more of a stereotype?

Also: Everyone I have ever known who had an HPA rig joked or bragged about jacking it up while in the field. Whether we "trust them" or not. It's a double standard, and frankly that's bullshit. I'd rather ban all of them.
