Ares DSR1

Postby DannyMerkury » Tue Feb 09, 2010 9:53 am

Hi,

I just picked up the Ares DSR1 from a friend. I don't know too much about them, anyone have an opinion or some knowledge I should know about it?

Also, where is the best place to buy Green Gas and .3 BB's??

Walmart, get some propane, as for BB's, AONW, S4, or any of the other nearby airsoft shops.

PS: get a propane adapter and some silicone lube :)

propane isn't green gas. i'd go for propane though. go get a adapter and some bb's and the stores big red listed. get your silicone at hobbytown usa. it's %100 silicone and it comes in different thickness and great prices for the right sized bottle

It's well known that Green gas is just propane and silicone oil...

My favorite is the citrus scented one.

Hey that looks like a great rifle but I have heared some complaitns from people that are dissatisfied with the out of box performance and some parts of the gun having poor quality/bad looks. Could you maybe tell us anything about that? I have to say from pictures that gun looks really good.

Sorry for no contributing anything but I thought while he opened a thread about this I could ask him about this gun.

There is some that does, it's quite refreshing. Best smelling propellant I've had experience with, excepting cordite, of course :)

Thanks for the advice. Is the reason to switch to propane a price or performance reason?

Also, the gun is sweet, the previous owner upgraded the spring and some internals that im not sure about. It is heavy so I might not use it as much as I originally was thinking in games so I will be looking for a sidearm or Sub AEG. I will also put it up for sale to test the waters on what its worth in the next couple days, I will link it when I do. Thanks.

New it goes away for 800 USD. I'd love to have that. Could you post some close up pics?

i'm not sure how you can upgrade a spring in a gas rifle......

but how is the body wobble? i watched extensive reviews when this rifle first came out and was quite disappointed with the lack of sturdiness with which the externals were put together. There was some extreme wobble in the bipod and the bolt I believe.

You upgrade the hammer spring which strikes the valve to release gas.
