Different sniper

Postby Filipp14 » Wed Mar 31, 2010 10:13 pm

When most people talk about snipers here, they always talk about those single shot bolt action rifles, but m-16s, svd's, g3s, and m14 seems just as good if not better since they can be used as both sniper and assault rifle. Does anyone have any insight or comments related to what i just said?

Refer to the performance and safety standards regarding select fire and semi-automatic platforms. Amping up an AEG basically allows someone with limited field skills to dominate an area. While that sounds fun to some people, the rest of us would rather have fun at games too. Being pinned by one noob (not calling you a noob) with an amped up SL-8 with a 470 round magazine isn't fun. We allow bolt guns to be amped up because of the low rate of fire and disproportionately high level of skill required to use a platform like that with anything resembling success. We have our rules for a reason. They are based on experience, and are enforced not just because of safety, but because we'd rather not give any one "class" (for lack of a better term) a disproportionate advantage.
