tsd m700 upgrade help!

Postby GrodSki » Fri Jun 25, 2010 8:33 am

Hi guys, well I have decided to purchase a Sniper Rifle. I have chosen the tsd m700 because it is inexpensive, vsr10 compatible, and it's magazine problems are not horrific.

Currently I plan on buying the gun here:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=4359

With this scope:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=5287

This tightbore:

And this hop up bucking:

A few questions now:

Can i perform the airbrake mod on the tsd? Can I take off the flashhider/muzzle easily because I was told its a phony pony? Is the tightbore the right size? Whats better the 3-9x40 Asgi scope or 3-9x40 Ncstar scope? Will the hopup bucking be worth the money? And are .28 bbs to light for these upgrades?

Thank you so much,

That tightbore is cut for the KJW M700. The TSD M700 is really a VSR-10 internally, look for upgrades for that. I use a firefly bucking in my bolt action and have great experience with them.

Yes, you can airbrake mod it. Yes it's easy to take muzzle cap off. Either scope will work for you. I use .43g bb's at 500fps. .28's will be fine for a stock rifle.

Here is where I become unpopular:

As a 13 year old, I highly suggest you DO NOT get a bolt action rifle. They require a large amount of work to reach their full potential. My TSD M700, really isn't anymore. I have replaced almost all of the internal parts on it. I have put close to 100 hours of labor into taking it apart, lining up the bucking, reassembling, shooting, disassembling, twisting the barrel 3 degrees, reassembling, firing, and repeating. The screw's will strip easily if you are not extremely careful. Being a sniper in airsoft is not all fun and games. You have to sit and wait. And wait and sit. You have to know that when you pull the trigger, you will most likely be hunted with a fiery passion. You have to understand engagement distances, and learn how to operate your bolt action safely and effectively.

If you are looking to be accurate out at longer distances, get an M14/M16/G3/G36 something that is full length. This combined with a tbb and a good hop up bucking will give you great accuracy and range, probably even comparable to the bolt action you want in the state you want it. However, you ARE 13, therefore I don't expect this to really sink in...

Thank you for the suggestion Jester316. However I believe the last 2 paragraphs you posted were awfully incorrect. Just to let you know I do have an aeg (G&G Rk47 Combat Machine) as well as a pistol (cqb master) but now I would like to try something new. I have played an assualt role as well as rush, and I just want to try sniping, not marksman. I have the money and I might as well try. Succesfully I have installed a tightbore in my RK47 and I am confident in taking apart and replacing internals.

IF I can't use the tightbore for the kjw m700 what tightbore should I use, the vsr10 one is too short!

You need a 510mm barrel that is cut for a VSR-10 hop up. This will most likely need to be custom ordered from somewhere. I had mine specially made, and I'm not sure the person still makes barrels.

I just took my SD700 out for the first time yesterday. I had been using .2 bbs while shooting it in my yard and they were less then pleasing. Even after hours of tweeking and moding (no upgrades, just cleaning up the fit of the stock internals) the results were less then desirable. however when I shot AONW's tan .4 bbs i was amazed at the difference in consistency. no more fliers left and right, just straight flying bbs :D I can now easily hit a torso size target at 100+ feet. (google earth verified) I haven't tested for max range yet.

I have a fixed BSA 4X32 scope on mine and for airsoft it works just fine. Its fairly compact so it also keeps the weight and bulk down.

As for the barrel. I was supposed to get one from the source Jester mentioned, however i have not heard from the guy for a month or two...
