Helmet suspension question

Postby Geschutz » Mon Oct 25, 2010 9:05 pm

I have a replica IBH helmet and would like a better suspension.

My current suspension was designed for small asians (no offense).. I never thought about simply replacing the suspension.

In case you are not sure what in IBH helmet is....

Someone on my team recommended the ops core ACH x nape suspension.

It appears it would fit on in IBH but I want to be sure before purchasing.

Otherwise are there any other suspensions that anyone could recommend??

Thanks in advance for the information!!

The problem is that the IBH is basically an airsoft-only helmet. I would guess that a MICH or ACH suspension system would work, but as far as purpose-built systems go they just don't exist. If it doesn't work, I doubt it would take much modification to get it to.

Jewish Ninja uses the Oregon Aero Kit for his IBH and loves it. He might/probably will jump in here an post about it, but since he's at work, figured I'd mention it for you.

Opscore should work fine with an IBH. I have one on eBay (check link in my signature) if you are interested.

Ninja, when you get time to post in this thread, I think we'd all appreciate some pictures if you can muster them.
I've also been considering replacing the suspension in my IBH, since my current set up pulls my helmet down over my right ear.
The Oregon Aero system is a little on the spendy side, so a quick rundown would be nice.

I have used these extensively and they are pretty good.

They do a good job of pushing the helmet back so it doesn't get in the way.

Does Oregon Aero make a suspension system as well as a pad system?

I am familiar with just their pads. FWIW I would recommend Skydex pads over Oregon Aero...better system and they also dont freeze.

Their velcro pads are not that great.

They do make the suspension system. It's in the right shape and adjusts well. It does feel a bit cheap, though.

i strung a USMC cvc 4-point suspension in mine. fit like it was made for it, holds the helmet comfortably and securely, and i found it used on ebay for like eighteen bucks.

+1 more for the Oregon Aero pad kit. If you are really worried, just get them positioned properly and tack them down with a tiny bit of superglue.

I can vouch for the quality of Oregon Aero, it's been in my RS PASGT for a while now and it's absolutely fantastic. Makes it that I don't mind having a giant block of kevlar on my head.

I have the suspension+ pad kit from Oregon Aero, for about $30 . It was a set for a MICH bucket but it works just fine with my IBH. I got them about 2 years ago and haven't had an issue. The straps do kinda work themselves loose a bit, but nothing a cable tie can't fix. I've also never had any issues with my pads freezing.

Theres some photos of my bucket in the bucket thread http://www.airsoftpacific.com/viewtopic ... 113#532113
