Please refer to AR 670-1 for grooming standards, especially in regards to facial hair:

    Male must be clean shaven
Side burns will cut in a horizontal line not to extend below the lowest part of the ear opening
    Mustaches are permitted
They must be neatly trimmed and not present a bushy appearance
No portion of the hair will cover the lip or extend beyond the corners of the mouth

Man, someone's butt-hurt that Multicam is no longer just for videogamesim faggots, huh?

The Army use to keep large warehouses of uniforms and equipment in Kuwait just in case they needed them for an "oh shit" situation in Iraq. If and when the Army switches to a new uniform it prob will take a while to trickle into the surplus stores. The fact that the Army has begun to issue MC to troops deploying is a pretty good sign that they have made or are near a decision to replace the ACU. The choices were between MC and UCP Delta the last I heard but that was a few months ago.

Like I had always told my team leader.

Then he decided we should be considering it as an alternate uniform for non-urban areas, like, everywhere else.

Ah, I told you so.

What are you talking about? I've always thought Multicam was a great camo pattern.

I'll probably be getting some fairly shortly.

Note to everyone else: Eudorus and I used to make fun of SOTA calling them videosim because they wore multicam. :P

I still maintain that UCP works really well for a large number of Fobbits... I mean troops... in Afghanistan. It blends in with the gravel on their FOBs so they can hide from their 1SGs.

And for a lot of the guys outside the wire, they'd do better to go with a monochrome tan, so they can blend in with their UAHs / Strykers / MRAPs.

Outside the wire on patrol? UCP sucks. But most of the troops over there spend very little time outside the wire dismounted, or at least tht was the case back when I was there.

Save a little money, call a spade a spade, and issue two sterile sets of Multicam in A2CU fire retardant cut or Nomex flight suits to each of the legitimate warfighters, not the Fobbits. Have them wear it outside the wire on mission only. The rest of the time? Let them wear ACUs in UCP, or better yet, let them wear civvies.

We finally made it into modern times with a digital uniform. So the colors really suck. Change the colors. But keep it digital. No goddamn reason to step backwards in pattern design. Multicam works better than UCP. But it isn't the end-all be-all pattern. If we are going to adopt a new pattern, let's do it right. Use Multicam for the nonce, but don't adopt it wholesale as a knee-jerk reaction away fro UCP.

ACU won't be gone for a long time.

You'll probably see the National Guard using it for another few years.

Also it's slowly getting rotated in, and to priority units in Afghanistan, and Iraq.

ACU will be extremely cheap now at surplus stores.
