I know the M88, but I mean quality wise. Before starting my work on this, I bought a generic MICH helmet and it is the biggest waste of my money, the straps are junk and dont stay and the helmet itself is just terrible, I dont want to run into that again.

The MICH is the most comfortable helmet I have worn, but ACM straps and pads SUCK really bad. If you get a MICH, get real straps and pads, and then it will be worth it.

Well, if you care enough to spend the money, get an SPC replica, and then buy a real LWH. I hear they are far superior to the PASGT.

Are the Marines wearing that now? I thought they were still using the MTV.

Yeah, they are wearing the SPC, and have been for a while. ;)

Marines are switching to the CIRAS land version, although some grunts are still using OTVs and MTVs, I think Recon and MARSOC use the MICH/ACH, but the grunts wear the "lightweight helmet" which is just a newer PASGT, and Bates and/or Danner boots. This is what by buddy in the USMC FAST unit told me. (fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team)

I have heard nothing about general Marines being issued the land CIRAS. FAST Marines, I could understand being issued it, because of their particular role in the Corps. But from what I understand, the average Marines use the SPC.

Marines are not switching to the CIRAS. They are using and will keep using the ISPC and MTV.

... Really, I thought for sure they did? And for whatever reason some of them use M16A4s with ACOGs...

He's sayingthat it makes sense that FAST Marines would have a CIRAS, which is quickly releasable, in case they fall in the water, because body armor sinks quickly.
It makes sense that they would be using M16A4's with ACOG's because that is what regular Marines use, for the most part.

They probably call it the FSBE because it's part of the FSBE II kit.
