Just because I'll have 6 sets of it doesn't mean I'll ever wear it to play airsoft ;-)

You'll probably see the National Guard using it for another few years.

Also it's slowly getting rotated in, and to priority units in Afghanistan, and Iraq.

ACU will be extremely cheap now at surplus stores.

It is not replacing ACU, it is being issued only to units deploying - when they are inside the wire, and when they are back its still ACU, all the time.

Which is retarded. I mean, I understand that they just got done spending a shitton of money on ACU, but to have a camouflage barracks uniform is just retarded. Not to mention that it increases the amount of shit that a soldier has to carry from deployment to deployment. Didn't just get done with a program to reduce the number of uniforms?

Yeah. And the end result of that program was UCP.

DOD mandated that the Dept of the Army replace the ACU based on recommendations from Soldiers and Leaders in the current Operational Theaters. The final 2 choices were UCP Delta and MC. But as anyone who has been in the Army for more then a day knows it takes a while to field new equipment and phase out the old. Hell, my unit is still usinig M16s and is turning in woodland wet weather gear. It is a long painful process.

This makes me happy, being the gucci shazaam I am. Still, I'm on the side that it should only be issued at the moment to infantry operating on foot outside of bases, while slowly rotating out UCP camouflage as uniforms fail. Which is what they'll probably be doing. So now UCP will be like the Navy's uniform, just so that non-combat soldiers don't have to bother with keeping their uniforms clean.

MultiCams will be issued to units heading to Afghanistan starting in July. Those units include the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk, La.; the 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo.; and the 2nd Brigade, 34th Infantry Division of the Iowa Army National Guard, according to the Program Executive Office Soldier Web site.

All of these units will be issued Multicam. It won't matter if they're on base or not. Also troops deploying to Iraq will still be issued UCP/ACUs

Thanks for the link, Binarypusher. I was wondering what chest rig was & the article answered it.

Anybody here actually see/use UCP in person? I've only seen it in pictures and that impression wasn't favorable.
