I've heard all the rage about magpuls for CQB where split second reloading is vital, but is there really any need for them on all your mags when playing in a field, or in the forest? I could understand having one or two of them on the hardest mags to reach, but having each and every mag wearing one seems like overkill. Am I wrong in thinking this?
I wouldn't say you're wrong, but it's mostly up to personal preference. Sometimes it's nice knowing you can shave off half a second or so reloading, maybe just enough time to get that next kill. Personally, I just took some paracord and black electrical tape (taci-tape, cough cough) and loop it around the bottom of my midcaps.
"Why do you need a GUN?!" "To poke holes in things too far away to get with the stick."
Airsoft is a fashion show. Magpul equipment is sexy. Put them together and you have your answer.
In other words, it certainly won't *hurt* anything having maguls on all of your magazine (I have them for my Glock, fags!). Looks leaps and bounds better than tape, too.

You see how magpuls usually are? and you see how they are in my photo?
I think parachord and tape magpuls offer some advantages over magpul magpuls, however I think in the end that the magpul ones are better overall. If I was really highspeed (or cared enough/owned compatible magazines), I would run ranger pulls which offer the benefits of both sides.
Back when i was in , we used to just remove the floorplate from the magazines , loop some paracord through the hole in the floorplate and put it back in the magazine.
