Black Commando Sweater

Postby Moose. » Sun Jan 23, 2011 8:46 pm

I'm having a difficult time trying to find a RAID modified black commando sweater.

If anyone knows where I could find one it'd be greatly appreciated if you shared your knowledge with me. :D

I'm guessing what you are looking for is a black commando sweatshirt with pockets on the shoulders. I have never seen one, so it may be easier to have pockets sewn on.

Raid modification is when a regular BDU jacket is modified. Generally the modifications consist of tilting the chest pockets, cutting and sewing the belly pockets onto the shoulders, and sometimes a mandarin collar or other changes.

Exactly what Shakespeare was talking about, I've seen black commando sweaters with pockets on the sleeves, I'm guessing I'd just have to make one homemade?

What you may have seen were the tactical softshell and fleece jackets made by TAD Gear and cloned by Condor. They look somewhat like a sweater. http://www.tripleaughtdesign.com/Appare ... lth-Hoodie
However, if you have your heart set on an actual sweater, then it wouldn't be too hard to sew some pockets on the sleeves.

Any ideas on where to get material like that for pockets and velcro for patches?

Most fabric stores should have them. I am unsure if they have sheet velcro, but velcro for closure should be no problem.
