ESS ICE

Postby Juicemachine » Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:18 am

As many of you know, I wear glasses, what with being blind and such. I've been wearing these for a long time, but I always seem to lose them, they scratch and fog easily, and they look, well, terrible. I've been wanting to wear ESS ICE for a while, as they look all pretty and such, but I've never been able to, as they don't fit comfortably over eyeglasses.

Recently, I stumbled upon this gem. It's an insert for ESS ICE 2.4 glasses that'll take prescription lenses, and it looks bleeding awesome. I'm just wondering if anybody has any other suggestions (maybe cheaper? $100 for a pair of glasses isn't too bad, considering the prices on normal glasses, but cheaper is better) or has had any experience with ESS ICE, or specifically the prescription inserts. Thanks!

Mine aren't that cool looking, but I converted my ESS Land Ops goggle into mesh from Bitter End. They work great, and fit over my glasses too. I never have fog issues, and I don't worry about BBs shattering because I have my eye glasses on underneath. I would love to find something more slim, but I don't want to spend a ton on glasses that I wear only for airsoft, when my regular glasses cost so much as it is.

I have never actually heard or seen anyone get a shattered BB on mesh.

No, I haven't either, but you know the comment would come up with the mesh being mentioned. I was just trying to get out ahead of the shattered BB comment after I mentioned mesh.

The USMC issued a version of them for a while and I had several people in my unit use them with glasses. I never heard any complaints about them. I felt they fogged a little quicker than the Oakleys but that is just my opinion. Another option is to go Oakley. They should do prescription lenses for the SI series but not 100% sure on that. But I have a feeling that you will find the ESS' work and are more affordable. I would also check with Sawfly and see if they can help you as well. Several people that I know that have had them liked the Sawflys better than their ESS glasses.
