Hello all

Hey all!

I'm totally new here (as well as to airsoft)! I actually just played my first skirmish last night with a few friends. We are all starting to get into it. It seems exciting and a lot of fun. I'd like to find some local games on saturdays or sundays to join in and learn the game and meet new people and have fun.

I ultimately want to play a sniper role, but I just got a cheap gun to start into it. I got the Umarex Walther P99 DAO CO2 BlowBack pistol, and it's already a lot of fun!

My name is Chris and I live out in Forest Grove.

Any advice on what to read or such to get into airsoft? Thanks! I look forward to meeting you all.

Welcome Chris!

A good comfortable pair of boots and BDUs (camo) would be a good investment if you haven't bought some already. Standard woodland, MARPAT and Multicam are popular here. I'd suggest grabbing a mid-range AEG before buying a sniper rifle. Starting out as a rifleman really helps learn the fundamentals of the game, and they are so much more versatile.

Welcome!
I second the "pair of boots" idea, but am going to take it a step further when it comes to weapons choice. You already have a GBB pistol, so you're infected :)
I would consider picking up a Tri-Shot shotgun and 10 or so shells. You can get that for ~$100 brand new, even LESS used. Shotguns teach you to count rounds, improve stealth skills, learn to take hits, and learn to pop up from cover/concealment and fire with accuracy and speed. Shotguns are a great way to build foundational skills and a more aggressive play style, along with developing key fundamentals.

Most places probably will not let you play with that pistol. My friend had that same gun and it was pushing almost 500 fps. I would recommend a good AR platform rifle to start along with some decant Molle gear. Look on the classifieds and there ar a lot of good guns and gear for cheap.

Welcome!

As to the "what should I read," ALL THE STICKIES.

They're different on each forum, and they're all valuable. If you actually read the stickies and follow their rules, you'll be loved for it. Oh, and +1 more to the mid-range AEG. There are a lot of threads about which ones are best for low cost. Take a look around. :)
