Noobie Alert.

Hey guys! When it comes to airsoft: i'm as new as they come. i spent the last three days reading the stickies and i jumped in and signed up for Resurrection III. Im excited to join a respectable group of adults who are as concerned with maturity and safety as they are with having a hell-of-a good time.

I'm finding I'm still a bit overwhelmed about selecting a gun (even after all the reading). i sure like the good old fashioned m16 but i have a feeling that its because... IM A NEWB. *sighs* (and the gun is probably as big as me (5'4"))

Anyheck, I'm looking forward to meeting you all, this looks like a great community!

Welcome Canis! Don't worry, we all started out as noobs! As far as picking a replica, my suggestion would be to go down to Airsoft Outlet NW and handle a few. One may feel better in your hands that others, and that will get you off to a good start. Plus, the guys at AONW know their stuff, and can guide you in the right direction. Again, welcome. I look forward to seeing you on the field.

If you want to have a good time for the cheapest, go for a Fragistan/guerrilla look. Woodland BDUs, a Dboys AK, some midcaps, and a chestrig. Less gear is cheaper, and AK's are very sound pieces (version 3 gearbox). I would go to smaller, free games before jumping into a big one, just to get a feel for airsoft, the lingo, and the community. The farm hosts some smaller games, and some free skirms should be popping up pretty soon. Hope to see you there!

Thank you, guys. I do think i would like to get my hands on some guns to help me decide. Just purchasing something over the net makes me leery. Ill probably have around 600 bucks to get me started with everything (including non-weapon gear.) so i should be able to pull something off.

*flexes sheepishly*

Welcome to Airsoft Pacific. Old-school M16's are sexy, and they allow you to partake in more period-set games. Handling a replica definitely helps in deciding if you like things or not, so I'm seconding a trip to AONW and asking a lot of questions. Besides big games like Resurrection 3, there's free skirmishes & some teams like CAG or ATA offer free trainings once a month. Both of which are great ways to meet others in a laid-back environment.

Hope to see you on the field. :)

Welcome to AP, Sir.
Get an AK, the airsoft ones are as durable as the real steel ones (relatively speaking)
$600 is a great budget; get a Real Sword AK and some cool russian gear; more than enough people do it, and it looks very nice.

You're already off to a great start by reading the stickies. Respect others and call your hits.

I am sorry to hear that 'calling hits' has to constantly be reminded. Accepting a loss or a hit seems like the best way to get better.

Thanks for reading the stickies. You're right...calling hits should be a no brainer. For most it is. For others, arrogance is more important than sportsmanship.

Welcome to AP.

Welcome Canis...

Call your hits, and have fun. When I airsoft I search for two things: to have one good kill, and fun. If I achieve that, the day is won (at least for me).

I'm very picky about my guns and my gear. Buy the gun that feels right to you (personally I would look at an M4 with collapsible stock), and wear what fits well, and that which gives you quick and easy access to mags.

Best regards,
