Airsoft Guerrilla Warfare

Postby Hutch » Tue Aug 16, 2011 11:19 pm

I have a question. Is Guerrilla Warfare an effective tactic for airsoft? I want to know from anyone who has ever effectively used this tactic, what they did, and what type of guns they used.
I am considering this tactic for use of small groups of players (6-12 players), but don't know if its a good idea.
Help me out? :?

Why don't you try it out at the next game all of you attend, and see how it works out for you?

I do it all the time. It's great for harassment and when you are out numbered.
Basically you just attack then retreat immediately. Either by sneaking up on the target, or hiding along their path. Running away at an angle is a good way to avoid being hit during the retreat. It's very hard to lead targets in airsoft.
Doesn't really matter what gun you use as long as you can hit your target with it.

If you have 6-12 people I'd suggest breaking them down into smaller groups 2-4.

If you ever go to a place where there are enough buildings and corners to set up... proper (if that is even possible) guerrilla tactics, then be my guest and try them out...

I don't really think they would be as useful as if you had a team that was using Proper tactics behind you.

EDIT: ^ true, but it's more about ambushing for the kill, not to survive.

I've used it back in the day. Just hit and run. Eventually they get scared and paranoid. I've picked off 10 people by myself once, and then had the last guy run away while I was using the last few rounds in a hicap with the gun upside down. I believe that was the mythical SniperC4

It depends on the situation. I've done it a couple of times with a buddy and it was always a blast. As long as you pick your targets well and know when to get the hell out it can be a lot of fun.

If you attack in ambush, and have fired more than a mag you have stayed way to long. I would suggest firing maybe 10 rounds most, and retreating and re direct an attack from another angle, never the same.

For games like that, it would depend on where you are in the field. It would be best to do this if you catch yourself "Behind" enemy lines, just watch all around 360 all the time.

I am in military. I will have a unit of like 7 to 8 people, we will split up into smaller groups and try the guerrilla tactic a few times, look for a group of teenagers about 14-17, that's us.

It's going to be hard or impossible doing this at the Warpaint field with so many people. So much open flat terrain with masses of other players everywhere. Usually this works fine out in the woods in fields like Scapoose, Estacada, and even some parts of SniperzDen where you can retreat easily and move around your target. Warpaint is a field where with that many players you'll have to fight to get to where you want to go. I'm not saying it's a bad field (I really like the place) but it's not big enough to do something like that with that many players about.

The entire time I've been using an old 230FPS TM AK Beta for years so imagine my engagement distances :/ Prepare to haul a$$. Hope you like sprinting.

I encourage you to use hit and run all the time this weekend. That'd be awesome!

Granted, I say that knowing I'm on the OTHER TEAM.
