I voted to keep it. I like talking politics and whatever on there.

It is true that it's a hard area to live in if you're new, and maybe we should be nicer, but hey, Kahuna did sorta ask for it.

It does seem to me that there's a whole lot of everything but airsoft and very little airsoft on these boards now than there used to be. Maybe we answered all the questions, or maybe we scared everyone with questions away.

In the end, I think we should keep it. I think we should try and keep it in it's place more. I think we should be nicer when we can, but still hard when it's needed. More airsoft. Less drama.

Best idea ever:

This has no downside. None.

Although I would love to see the insults/attacks and drama go I feel that off topic should stay. AP is not just an Airsoft website. AP is a forum that serves a community of mostly friends who share a love of Airsoft. Like stated before there are more things to talk about between friends than just Airsoft. The strength of AP is that its members routinely visit the forums for whatever it is that is on their mind. I myself have come to AP looking for non-airsoft related entertainment and information. I am happy that I have so far found what I am looking for. Offering more content is a good thing. Also it is true that the main forum will be polluted by the OT comments. It is a good thing that OT content is not listed in the recent topics section on the homepage. This allows those who are not interested in OT to avoid it while keeping up to date with the currently discussed Airsoft topics.

If you're going to go to war against a major enemy, go; knock the hell out of him fast, and go in there to kill him and get it over with.

yeah, we could create an off topic user group. have someone moderate teh group and people whoi request access to it can.

IDK something to think about.

I was the one who brought this up to Matt in the first place. I think the OT detracts from Airsoft Pacific. But I also see that its an integral part of AP. There is also the option of moving it to tacticalgangbang...

anyways, open discussion is good.

Ask Bill what he thinks about seat belt laws and that suggestion becomes ironic. :p

I think we should just change it to different sections.

I could deal with a subscription OTF. I also volunteer to help mod if need be. I also like the idea of split of age and underage OTF, but I can also see complications arising from that.

I don't know why it would be ironic Ben. If you choose to subscribe to it, then you could.....I feel similarly about 18+ adults and seatbelts.

You can wear it if you want being an adult or in this case, you can subscribe to it if you want if you are an AP registered user.

I meant more the notion of protecting people from themselves or their own choices. Adding a subscription doesn't do anything but add another step. Your choices are the same as they are now. Making it so you can't see OT threads just protects you from your choices. ;)

I'm not discrediting the idea, just calling it what it is. Nothing is lost by implementing this.

The mere fact that this thread exists suggests people already struggle with choice.

If it weren't for the APST boards and OT, I wouldn't come here ever.
