I think a good combo of really nice and cheaper stuff is good,

that way more people get things

but you still get the excitement when "the big one(s)" come up

Read has a good point. Like when I went to Conflict Europe III. The raffle giveaway included haps and t-shirts as well as knives and AEGs. Heck, they gave away a SCAR H. I personally don't mind the smaller, more abundant prizes. I'm with Graham, I never win anything, so whatever increases my odds is good with me.

Why we all know the raffles are rigged so nobody but APST will win the water bottles...

I've always liked getting gift certificates for local retailers better than winning a big prize at events. One, I get what I've really been wanting. Two, its better for the retailers if high dollar items like AEGs and expensive vests are not given away. Those prizes are often sold at cut rate and keeps a sale from a retailer. With a gift certificate the winner gets what they really want, the retailer is out less dollars and may even be money ahead if said item the winner opts for is certificate plus cash.

Can't help it, my job all day long is to constantly think about ROI (Return On Investment)

Id just give out "meh" level guns or items that are just fun/interesting/unique to use and have 1 or 2 high end AEG's to give out

Just lie about the prizes and keep them to yourself.

Raffles are so last year... I am done with them... I don't go to the event for some bleeding prizes.. I go for the event and the experience.
What killed this whole raffle thing was for me. Was when some drunk was throwing out some knives into the crowd at a raffle..
Instead of prizes, give me a hat or a tee shirt that say "Operation Wally World".. I would walk away happy with that. Christ, I would be happy having that hour that the raffle takes up, hanging out with my friends or getting home early.
Personally ask your sponsor for money rather than toys, loaders, out of date hats and tee shirts. Have that shit free for those who want it. Or have a dude in Santa Suit giving it away to the little kiddies who like that shit.
Give me an event that I would dream about years after wards and reminisce to my grandchildren about.
I remember, helping host an event for the No. 5 R.A.C. . That was voted best event of the year of 2006. There was no raffle at "Enduring Horizon". Your raffle prize was the event it self.
Stop the raffles please.

To a degree, I'm with John on this. I am less interested in raffle prizes, than in a good event. I don't go to games for the prizes, I go for the event. I only bother trying to get raffle prizes for events that I put on, because its expected.

But seriously - are you going to a game hoping to win a water bottle, or are you going there looking for a fun experience?

Forget that crap... I still want to win something awesome. Forgive me but I am more likely to go to an event if there is an added chance to come out ahead in the end. Yeah Yeah Yeah airsoft is fun and the experience is what we should be there for... true...but... I like hanging out with a bunch of tired out dudes hoping to win that Classic Army I still haven't been able to afford. Also if you don't like the raffle give me your ticket and then you can still go home early. That works for everyone! :D

I do agree with Alex in that I don't want the event to suck because all focus was on the raffle.

No I wouldn't do that. I would go and drop it into the nearest toilet, blue water or flusher. You going to have to work to get that ticket.
