About 5 hours. Because that's what we do already to play in Portland area games. Living in Southern Oregon isn't fun for events, but gas isn't too bad when you have 4-5 people going up. $40 in gas/5 people= cheap. But camping is a must, at field or otherwise.

For what promises to be a good game from a promoter I know I'll drive 4-5 hours, for unknown or questionable entities 2-3 hour tops.

I would travel any distance if the payoff were worth it.
A few hours of immersion to escape an othewise dull life is priceless.

I would be willing to travel up to 2 hours if its a long game with camping, i hate driving longer then the actual time i spend playing.

I usually end up driving an hour to an hour and a half, but 3 hours can be a long drive, even for me. And I grew up traveling cross country with my dad in his semi-truck.

2-3 hours would be ideal, but if its by a event organizer that has had a good rep in the past I would not miss out on it if it was 4-5.

Depends on the OP; but if it was an overnight (camping) and if the event<$20.00 then you could count me in for a 5 hour drive.

(Thank god for my new shiny drivers' license, being driven around by parental units is a drag).

If the game is worth the drive, I'm willing to go. I'd hope there would be camping for anything involving more than a 3 hour drive, and to be somewhat close to a town so if you need supplies and such.

I saw the title and thought this was a Time Travel discussion. I was going to opine that, while physically moving faster than the speed of light is impossible, 'bending' space and ending up in another place in what appears to be 'faster than light' would be possible if you're jumping across wormholes or bent-space.

However, I've driven to Tacoma before for a game. Additionally, I would be willing to drive as far as Bend or maybe Ashland for a game you're describing, if it were on a Saturday. :D

I'd drive 3 hours from either Portland or Silverton if I could be assured it would be a good worthwhile game.

As long as I am not driving most the time and the event is big enough and long enough that you play more than you drive yes...
So my equation is...
Time Traveled = T
Time Played = P
Fun Multiplier = X
Maximum Propensity To Consume = V
Actual Cost = N
(XP - T)+(V-N) = G
If G /< 0
then
Don't Go
If G > 0
GO!
