Event Organizers

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

Postby Chachi » Fri Nov 12, 2010 10:17 am

Not to get off topic, but being that I am an insurance agent, I am really curious who the main companies are that provide coverage for airsoft events and game hosts. If someone wants to PM, that would be greatly appreciated. We have access to a variety of sports/action sports/event insurance coverage, but I haven't come across one that does airsoft yet. Anyways, thanks!

Why PM about it? It's not a secret.

The big one I know of is APL, American Paintball League.

Some of the established paintball parks around here use them.

Great, thanks guys. I'll do some checking into those.

As for the PM comment, I already felt like I was getting off topic from the intent of this thread, so I asked for a PM. But this works too! Thanks again!

Oh, no worries. The original poster was asking insurance related questions so I'm sure it's no biggie. His question might have been "Where do you get Airsoft insurance?" If that's the case, we answered it :)

premier events. large scale. full immersion. that is a super game.

that is what my tangent is all about........

Go ask Bill what he thought about LC's cow patty field of doom, indestructable golf carts and super emmersion. You can also ask him, why he's never gone back to another one.

I haven't been to the new LC events, but at LC 3 I found myself asking "Where did they spend all the money?"

Good to know the difference in what "supergame" means. I automatically thought LC or other national events where they have VIP's, complete MOUT facilities, blah, blah, blah. They have paid staff to help run the event, food for everyone, etc. so that's why their costs are so high. I would love to see a largely attended game in a new field in the area. The price is even better!
I do hope that after all this discreditable shuffling we may be taken into action. It has a wonderful way of reconciling a man with himself: and with everybody else, sometimes. - 1st Lt. James Dillon

There seems to be some misunderstanding of what my intent is, its a game based on milsim, (team based play) in the woods. The story line we have developed does not include big production items. The story is based loosely on a series of real events that took place in the jungle. The Jungle does not have paved roads, big structures, tanks or helicopter insertion with pyro. I have played paintball for years and understand that you can not play games in thick underbrush, it takes a mix of good cover with open lanes to shoot in. I understand for conversation that airsoft is a little better in brush than paintballs but still not the ideal. This site has a road passing the full lenght of it, horse/deer trails, and areas that heavy equipment worked in the past. Like every farm there is a bone yard with old tractors, and other equipment in it. Its not big time but it works and its a good time that people can play in a milsim settings at a cost for everyone.

you might be new to this, you might not be to ap.com.

This sort of topic posting is nothing new around here.

bottomline:

people will be interested. if you build it, build it right. New fields are always great. Free to $30 is the average event price around here. If you charge more make sure it's worth it.

want help? there lots of us that would be glad to assist

The problem is price and level of props for me.

I think if you want a large game, you can do one on your field, and airsoft in this area will probably give you a hundred people the first time around. If people hear good things, then the next event you could have 200. If you've hosted a couple before and you always make good on your promises of what's in store at the event, you could have a "big event" and charge a higher price and still get a few hundred.

When I think big game I think designated military vehicles, complex organization of teams and well thought out gameplay.

The biggest hurdle airsoft in Oregon has so far had is the lack of fields with urban areas (one or more areas with 5-20 large buildings), enough wooded land (that's not in small sections that are unusable for farms) and promoters willing to front the costs before the game (because that's what it's going to take to get a super game going. Nobody will go until you build it.

Matt: Suggestion: Make a game hosting section where you could talk about important things so next events get better. People can mention what they don't like and have seen (example: I HATE it when I go to games and the game isn't started via a secure method, so one team doesn't know the game starts and are severely disadvantaged as in CEIV when we didn't know the game started until we were surrounded), or talk about different fields in the area, or talk about how to use public land or fields that sometimes are disputed (see fiasco around Scappoose field), insurance, etc.

lets be clear on this.

I never posted about vehicles, and it will never be an option with me, its only a place to play organized milsim style games.

It also seems that "big game" means something different in airsoft than paintball. Big to me is a bunch of people play the same game, not Hollywood productions.

My ability to have games on a remote property is all I am claiming. I would set it up as a Nam type setting, jungle fighting nothing more

The operation is a common place game around here with large numbers and playing in the woods or any paintball field we have. They draw a few hundred.

The idea of a "big game" is sort of the next step. I think you can easily make a game and draw a bunch of people to your land.
