Goat-Gate

Postby Chefzilla » Mon Jan 18, 2010 8:29 am

As the one who cooked the goat at CE:IV let me apologize to the community as a whole for my part in this.

The goat was brought to us skinned but whole, called a primal cut, after said primal was butchered down. Which left the spine, legs and head. I cooked the meat and ribs as no one was stepping up and I didn't want to see all that meat just sit there raw, attracting animals or just rotting. We then passed around this meat to all the players that camped that night. Which quite a few partook of so as the one who cooked the goat meat. I do apologize for my part in this affair. The parts that were left should have been properly disposed of by someone.
For those of PLA that seem to want to distance themselves from this. We all took part in it. Whether actively or not and we ALL need to do our part to make this better. Besides most team members came by the truck and saw the refuse and no one did anything about it.

I for one am truly embarrassed by this whole affair and the actions of in actions of the whole team. We all knew about the goat and whether we thought that actually wouldn't happen or we thought it was funny, stupid or whatever, we as a team are responsible.

Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa.

Why were you bringing/eating goat at the OP in the first place?

It's kinda odd to just suddenly crave goat meat before an airsoft game. I've never heard of it before. My question was a harmless one.

I believe there has been talk of it for a few weeks, so it wasn't a "sudden craving".

It's food for a large group.

The only difference between this and a BBQ is that it still had bones and a head. Had it been cleaned up there should have been no problem.

Your question is harmless. Josh is just pointing out that it's irrelevant, too

This whole situation kind of begs the question because it sounds like a certain amount of shenanigans is already afoot. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with what happened up until the lack of cleanup. You cannot overlook the fact that this is a strange occurance at local airsoft games. Also a goat is the devil beast.

edit: Dmitri is right but the goat wasn't cleaned it was whole.

Josh, you have to admit that bringing a goat, complete with head and feet to a game is a bit different than throwing a burger on the grill.

It's different to you. I've personally been to two "goat feasts". One the goat was brought whole as I hear it was brought to the game... just skinned. Another the goat was killed there on the spot.

Dan has spoken of doing something like this for a long time, since he ate a lot of it in Afghanistan and after he got back. So, I don't find it odd.

It's only odd if all your life the only meat you've eaten or cooked came wrapped up from the meat department.
