Airsoft Speech, Need suggestions.

Postby Kpatrol » Wed Apr 28, 2010 5:12 pm

I want to make an informative speech for airsoft. My college public speaking class is requiring informative speeches and I want you guys, the little people, to give me some information you find the public needs to know. This is my new hobby and I want everyone to know :D ... I could have done it on a lot of other things but this just seems more fun.

I want to let you know its not a very serious class and the professor is really chill back about the topic. Just add suggestions and your own personal opinions on what you think airsoft and people should know about it.

I also want to let you know that it is not due until two weeks later so please don't think I am trying to mooch off or anything I just want to hear your responses.

*If you don't want to give any information or feedback and just want to criticize on this please don't reply, I am begging you... This post seems to become a flaming one every time the thought of education + airsoft come together.*

I believe you mean "but this just seems more fun."

Airsoft is a completely unregulated sport in which adolescent males and immature or socially inept adults run around swearing and shooting at each other with what appear to the public to be real guns.

i gave a speech on Airsoft for my sp111 class years ago, it went well and people seemed generally interested. i would keep the topic focused on the pros like how there are organized communities promoting safe and responsible use of Airsoft, how it's played, and benefits to mil/le training.

Couldn't have said it better.

But in all honesty, I'd choose another topic. I have a degree in Speech Communications/Pathology, Airsoft as a speech topic will not fly with most college professors. There's very few 'expert' or 'published' sources to cite your facts. Some professors might find it interesting, but intellectually, not a really engaging topic.

Pick something more interesting like Spontaneous Human Combustion. :)

I already came up with an outline and trust me I can make almost any speech good.

I wouldn't sweat it, your going to far... even though this is a college level course "Com 222" it is nothing more than a public speaking course.. Its probably because you majored in communications that your worried about how good the topic is. I was going to do other things like cars and crap but I decided to do this since its just easy.. It is "Informative" but that does not mean i need that many sources for research. Plus I am planning on using airsoft pacific as a source.. Any words you guys say, I will quote and recognize your name.

I am glad you asked that... Airsoft is so new that everything is still unclear. The fact that we airsoft gives us the lead in knowledge about it. There is no right or wrong answer, its all opinionated. Think of it as an interview.

Yes, but you're delivering a speech, not an interview. In a speech you give YOUR opinion, not mine. You back up your opinion with professional citations. No one here is a professional airsofter. You should know this already, since apparently, you're the speech master.

Give a speech about airsoft if that's what you really want to do, but no one here seems to want to help with your homework. Express your own stupid opinions, and don't ask me for my stupid opinions.
