411 on PTOC

Postby Portland Tactical » Wed Nov 03, 2010 4:14 pm

OK,

I have been told by MANY that I need to finally make a comment about what is going on with PTOC. First let me say this. I will not waste time and energy on people who have absolutely no interest in PTOC, so I am respectully asking that if you have nothing good to say, then please dont respond. I had a dream of building a massive indoor arena, with multiple fields that changed regularly to keep the excitement alive. That dream was plausible and our beta test in Hillsboro was for the most part a success. mistakes were made, my trust was broken, and things didnt end the way I wanted them to. I was not sued. I was not forced out. I was out of city compliance. I did however discover that the facility was not conducive for my project. Furthermore, like most other airsoft arenas in industrial areas, the rent did get too high, and the city wanted to impose massive traffic impact fees if we were going to proceed with expansion.

However, One major thing was a success. There IS a demand for CQC indoor arenas and PTOC IS NOT DEAD we have over 600 unique customers in our database and in the short period of time. We have found a new location, and we hope to begin working on our project soon. Our vision has changed quite a bit, and since we are limited on sapce, I will continue as a reply

One thing I learned is that the General Population of this community is againts airsoft for profit. I can see both arguments. but while many may not believe me, and I dont care... I am not into airsoft for the money. Anyone who can say that they know me well enough, knows that to be true. I love this hobby, and I love the people who want to make it fun.

Another thing I realized is that The general AP community was never the demographic we served most frequently.

That being said, it is true that Hangar 18 will be under construction soon, but before we get into that I want to make my intentions perfectly clear.

I am not bringing PTOC back to make a living. I am not doing this to make a profit. I am doing this, becuase Airsoft is one of the most exciting things to me. and to know that this is true for thousands of others in our area makes me want to have a place where old friends and new friends can

can get together and have fun all day doing what they love the best.

The location I have found allows just that. it is a 26k sqft shell that we can completly customize however we want. There is little or no power. but I think of this as more like a covered outdoor field. it is pretty huge. we have most of the materials from before, and will be getting more.

I picked this place because the owner of the land want a very reasonable price for it. my goal is to run it more like a club. Yes there will be cost. because the place comes with a price. and yes we will inevitably bring in money, but the intention is to pay the land, and circulate all of the rest back into the field.

we dont have any intention of doing sales, rentals, or anyting like that. just perhaps a field fee. we are not looking to profit in any way on this field, but we will need to spend money to make it happen and as long as we can break even we will always be open, and that should be hard to do.

The reason I posted here, is because I have had MANY calls, and messages, and emails etc... about when we are finally going to get this off the ground.

Well this Saturday 11/06/2010 we will be measuring the building, and taking inventory of our resources and we will begin mapping our first field. I am saying this because anyone who would like to come out and just see what we have to work with is welcome to come. Anyone who wants to help with the mapping and build will have free access to the facility for the first several weeks, while we test the field and see how it plays.

I am not going too far into details of operation just yet but I will tell you that if you DID like PTOC before, then you will be VERY happy with what we will have now. I can also tell you that the field cost will be significantly less, and the hours will be more, and field size will be 4 times bigger than before.

FINALLY

Postby Portland Tactical » Wed Nov 03, 2010 4:45 pm

I am sorry for being long winded, but in conclusion I want to make this perfectly clear.

I dont care if you like me or hate me. I dont care if you like the rules we establish. I am not doing this for the haters. I am doing it for me, and I am calling all past friends, present friends, and future friends to come and have fun on our new field with us, because this is for you.

Again, if you want to come out and see the field this Saturday, all are welcome. if anyone asks, I will post the directions, and times that we will be there.

It is not a playable field yet, however if you live close, and are curious, or would like to give input on how you would like your field to be designed. let me know and we would love to see you! we will post our progress periodically, and we will certainly shout out when we are ready to play!

well its going to take a while to get the thing ready for shooting, but I am excited.

I am overwhelmed with my primary business, but some people have come to me and volunteered to get this thing off the ground.

personally i dont care if we have tons of people come. just enough to make things fun is good for me.

Its going to be good I think...

I hope your endevour is successful Chris. With what you have taken away from the first location, I'm sure you'll be rocking and rolling in no time.

CAG has a few people who have construction experience and would love to help volunteer if you need help. I personally don't know how to use a hammer to saw wood, but I look forward to playing there once it opens!

I don't know if I can make it this Saturday, but I can certainly give you input on features I've liked and disliked in CQB areas before.
