Insignia Questions

Postby Tombstone » Thu Dec 06, 2007 1:24 am

Hey Guys,
Rank Insignia has always been a heated debate issue here at AP, at least when it come to US insignia.
I figured this would be the best place to ask.
Where can I get insignia from other countries Militaries?
I.e. Ireland, Japan, Germany, Russia, Vietnam, Isreal, Italy, etc etc.
and by "where can i get them" I mean where can i purchase them.

Im going to extend on this topic a little here,

If you are acting as an airsoft team (have your team patch, team nametape, and loadouts in that respect.) as long as you are not actually claiming that you are a serving member of the armed forces, is it going to be terribly bad if we use rank insignias? chevrons or bars???

Are we going to get hated on for trying to use just RANK insignias

I'd suggest using the old sleeve ranks, they are not used as standard uniform ranking on duty uniforms anymore.

Oh, and do some research as to what the ranks do.... you will look dumb if you walk onto the field with 5 Sgts, a 1stSgt and 2 privates.

Everyone on TITS is at least a Lt. Colonel.

Brigadier Kendo is pretty tough...;)

and I wanted to be a full bird colonel too :( [/sarcasm]

Seriously though, I am sure that we would actually do our research and see to it that it looks allright. as far as sleeve ranks Ill have to look into that.

Am I to assume then that we wont be ridiculed off teh field then if we use rank insignias just for our team?

thanks fellas

Meh, Ranking systems are kinda silly.

At least as far as airsoft goes.

Plus I wouldn't want to wear something that makes me stand out more so than my guys... Snipers like Bill and Amos look for shit like that. :p

It's funny, I don't see where wearing any rank on a uniform would be a problem (if used on the field, you wouldn't want to wear full bird rank while standing in line at plad pantry). The only issue I have is people wearing special skills badges they haven't earned (SF tabs, Ranger tabs...ect.). Unit patches would be ok in my book as well (4th ID, 82nd ABN) as long as your re-enacting a specific unit.

I agree with Regagade to a point. If you want to play mil-sim then you must have some sort of rank structure. Otherwise it's just a gaggle of people running around with no leadership.

If you're going to go to war against a major enemy, go; knock the hell out of him fast, and go in there to kill him and get it over with.
