Deans Plugs make a better connection between the two halves because the contact area is bigger and therefore yields less resistance for the electricity to flow. But tamiya's connectors make more resistance. Is that because the connectors are smaller and are made of aluminum?
I Just want better clarification so don't flip a phony pony.
Yes, you are pretty much spot on. Also, the clips on Tamiya connectors wear out after only 50-100 cycles of plugging, which creates problems. The snug fit and (usually) gold plating on Dean's means you get a nearly lossless amperage throughput, versus only 15 amps or so from a Tamiya.
It's important to not forget to wire the internal Tamiya connector near the gearbox to Dean's as well as the one near the battery, otherwise the whole procedure becomes superfluous to improving performance. It seems obvious to do both, but was the very noobish mistake I made when I converted my first gun to Dean's.
