one thing that i know was throwing me off was a couple of guys with yellow shemaughs on that looked like dead rags. they werent red, but ive always considered any overly bright and obnoxious color that stands out really well and is worn on the head to be a dead rag.

LOVED this edition of Grid 18!!!
The Corp side started pretty strong, but as you've read before - there was a coup in the Command structure. From what I heard, it was that DRAT was taking over - they walked into command, told them that they were taking over and if anyone resisted they would be shot - when command was handed over, they said 'Just kidding' and took off...
After that, the TACnet died and it was a radio free-for-all since nobody could get ahold of command to see what the shazaam was going on. Top it off with my squad starting at the ladder bunker and nearly killing my own recon vehicle because nobody in the upper echelon told me it was ours.

Despite the snags (EVERY damn OP has one) this was one of the best OP's I've been to. My guys and I had an absolutely great time. I want to thank the BOPE folks that were attached to my crew for the help and kick a$$ support they gave, and I want to thank Snake Eyes for the leadership that he gave when nobody could be reached on the Command net - you know how to get shit done bud. It was great meeting all the folks that I have never met before: Snake Eyes, Operator, Valentine and all the folks we shot ;)
I had an inkling that APST was going to end up turning on the Corps side, but I didn't think about mentioning it because I didn't want to jump the gun. It gave the game spice in my opinion, but the side switching of other Corps members was very frustrating - especially when we didn't have a Comm net up to get the information out. We did, but we were all on different channels and if you weren't on sub0, then you didn't get what you needed.
I will say one thing though - then next time some stinker wakes me up at 6:30 in the morning with upsidedown up wannabe techno music, I'm sticking a knife through his van's battery; especially when drunken puke-screaming is occurring until wee hours of the morning. I dunno who that was, but someone should have just kicked them into unconciousness - it's not like they would have remembered it..I'm with Gunny on drinking - if you can't do it responsibly leave the shit at home.

Personally Matt, I hope there is a number 3 to this. It was awesome.

This was my fault entirely. I had a shitty week but that's hardly an excuse for everything I don't remember doing. Oddly enough, that's the first time I've drank with the sole intent of getting drunk. It's a bad mindset and the incident won't be repeated.

Next time around we need a CO who doesn't make plans for his plans, and some plans on his plans, uses overcomplicated code speak, and has no rapport with the community. The coup d'état was wholly necessary, hilarious, and allowed Snake Eyes to step in near the end of the game which led us to taking back the village and pushing for star log. Had he been in charge from the beginning things would have been great.

We were never kidding about the coup, either. Valentine tried to get on the radio and get things moving but, as usual (I discovered this at Conflict Europe 3) no one actually listens to you over the radio. Later, when we all got fed up of telling people what needed to happen and having them... uh... not do it, Snake Eyes just started grabbing people in Khe Sahn and sending them where they needed to go.

I hate people that shoot dead people.

With my captain america shirt and red beret on trying to find my car keys. Shot once in the balls, an understandable accident right up until my knees get hacked at and some one yells for me to call my hits. After that someone is smart enough to ask me if i'm dead THEN shoot me in my berries and run away like a little phony pony. That was after I stopped playing because some people were being unsportsmanlike and gave me several cracked teeth.

Sorry for complaining, i'm done now.

Edit: Also, Junto, I did tell Helo we were kidding after i was told that we couldn't assume command and no one was using the radios properly. Standard stuff.

I would like to get OPs started earlier (brief at 9am sharp) and have them last longer.

Driving 10 hours round trip for 4.5 hours of gameplay is kinda... tiring.

I guess that makes me a 'little special' - I was listening over the radio the entire time. I took that as my responsibility as a squad leader to get information and either spread it to those that needed it, or used it to advance the gameplay. I ended up being Snake's RTO for a short time and it brought back memories of Ivan's 1 and being Gunny's RTO for just as short a time.
The coup might have been necessary, but it wasn't hilarious - it left the rest of the entire Corps wondering what was going on and waiting to get orders that never came because nobody knew who was in charge. I had dead air over the radio for the best part of 3 hours with the exception of my sniper (Gunny, from Roseburg) who was relaying enemy positions and troop movements so I could relay them to Snake Eyes. Operator was monitoring the main frequency, and I had no idea who else had radio contact. Top it off with 20+ people sitting on their asses in Khe San inside the respawn tent and it turned to a shitty day at the end other than Snake knocking heads and taking lead. That saved it from becoming a complete cluster fornication.

I'm working on an OP that should be to your liking. I just need a bigger field and/or the ability to leave folks out there overnight.

Hosting as in providing the space, yes. Hosting as in running, no. I'm still working out some of the fundamentals. A long-duration OP doesn't come together very easily.

I must've gotten lucky, because I had no issues with hit-calling, "dead-rag hacking", or drunken yacking.

I wish that Coup would have produced better results, because having our new CO say "Jay-Kay" ten minutes later left me a little demoralized.

I also had no idea my G3 could reach so far.
I had a good time.

It was an honor attending this game with y'all. I managed to get one Banzai charge when we stormed the village from Khe San and that motivated me and hopefully the comrades that charged and eventually took our base back.

As for future vehicles, a brand new 6-shot 40mm grenade launcher will be used since our recon team go mowed down at the start of the game.
