battery for the G&G UMP

Postby Abe » Wed Dec 30, 2009 4:23 pm

I was wondering if this battery would be the right size for the G&G UMP.

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=3595

I have tryed the Custome sized battery (came with the gun) and it is the reason why I need another battery.

Thanks.

With a 9.6V, the part you'll want to measure is the length. A 1600mAh cell leaves a lot of room as far as width is concerned, so you're good there.

Yeah, I figured I would have lots of extra room width wize. Do all the 9.6 batteries have the same size cell(I think thats what they are called) as in length?

My G&P 9.6v stick won't fit in my DE UMP (too long). I tried my 7.2v stick lipo, and its a bit too thick, though I might need to move the riser that supports the battery.

Not at all. The dimensions are going to be different across several brands of cells.

Okay thanks for all the information.

Also, I may just end up taking the back two batteries off the costume battery. I am guessing this is a pretty simple thing to do?

I used to have a G&G UMP and I used 8.4v stick batteries and they fit fine.

its not too hard, but if you remove two cells the power of the battery will decrease by 2.4 volts and it likely wont run your gun very well.

should work fine. if there's an upgraded spring in the gun it might have a more difficult time pulling the piston back, but stock an 8.4v ought to work.

8.4v's will fit as long as they say "stick type". Sanyo makes a "special" 9.6v for the UMP but it costs upwards of $40-$50.

If your looking for 11.1v or 7.4v li-polys the following I have used in my G&G UMP without modification:
Firefox 11.1v 1200mah 20C 3pcs
Firefox 11.1v 1600mah 20C
HOT POWER 7.4V 1600mAh 12C
HOT POWER 7.4V 1100mAh 15C
HOT POWER 11.1V 1600mAh 12C

I just have a few questions about the chargers.
1.I am not supposed to discharge them at all correct?
2.Also do I connect the two more square looking connectors to charge the battery?
3. Could I just use one of the charges ment for a lipo battery at one of the hobby stores? If not would this be a suitable charger?
