How much more range do upgrades give?(Spring, tightbore)

Postby FunkyDoucheMan » Sat Aug 28, 2010 2:55 pm

A common question I know. But I already have a Madbull blue and H-nub in my G36c right now... And wanted to know if bumping it from 310 fps to 370 fps is worth it or not. And also, if getting a tightbore barrel (madbull) would help much either... I know the 2 combined would make the gun quite a bit better, but I'm in the process of going broke ordering all my gear to actually get to a game.

The only reason you'd really want to bump up the FPS is so you could use heavier bb's, which help. Tightbores do help, but not really by a ton. The quality of the barrel is more important than the diameter IMO.

Actually the tighter specs in a Tight bore will help with accuracy along with higher fps and heavier bb's.

Worry about going to a game more than what upgrades you want to get. You might find that what you have now is what you need to play effectively.

And you don't need a lot of gear for going to games either. I've seen people do just fine with a hiking hydro to carry spare ammo and their water in.

Yeah you could work with going up too 370. What brand of G36 is it?

Its a KWA g36c gen 1... The previous owner was a sherpy herp derp, and messed up the bucking as well as lost the nub. Thats why I have replacements... But anyways!

Okay. And why is it not shooting 400 on the dot? Most KWA replica's i have held are shooting 390-400.

There's the answer right there. There's probably a compression issue around the bucking. Also, if it is second-hand, it may also have o-ring issues. These are all extremely cheap and simple fixes; less than $5 and a trip to Home Depot.

Get some teflon tape and wrap a couple of layers around the bucking. See if that helps. If it doesn't, take a look at the piston head in the gearbox. Make sure you've got good compression there. If you don't, buy a #14 size o-ring, or better yet, get a small package. That should fix you up fine.

Which is totally what you do, Barrett.

Anyway, he has a point. I've done well in field games with a gun that shoots about 240 FPS so you should be fine with 330ish. It will increase accuracy, yes, but it's not necessary.

If you have a KWA going from the stock 6.05 barrel to a madbull 6.03 will give you nearly no change whatsoever. If you want to get a tightbore you will need to get a 6.01. You should see some significant improvements in range, accuracy, and velocity.
