Charger problems, please help

Postby Marauder » Fri Sep 10, 2010 7:31 pm

Hi everybody, I have two 9.6v batteries, a 2000mah and a 1600mah, and I have a 'Superbrain 960' smart charger. The charger was working just fine until a few weeks ago, now for some reason it doesn't charge the batteries or anything. I have tried the 2000mah on other chargers and have used it since this problem started and I just got the 1600mah today so I am convinced that it is not the batteries. The charger reads the voltages of the batteries just fine and doesn't say that there are any problems and then I hit the 'start' button and it says that it is charging. After a few minutes of waiting the voltage of the battery has dropped a few '0.01' volts. What's wrong? My guess is that the charger settings somehow got messed up. Please help, I plan on going the 'Holy wars' and if this doesn't get fixed I may have to bail.

I would say try leaving it for a while, but only if the charger has an auto shut-off feature. a small voltage drop is normal during charging.

Double check your connections between the battery and the charger and also check the plugs to make sure they havent come uncapped from the little lips inside - they sound like they are loose.
You might also check to see that the metal plug ends are loose - they need to make good contact to charge properly.

I did leave it on until it went "BEEEEEEPP BEEEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPP"
meaning that it was done.

I double checked all the connections, the batteries both work in the gun, tho they are almost dead.

Thanks guys

did you discharge it all the way before charging? Also, what chemical battery is it (NiMh, NiCad, LiPo) and how old are they?

I did not discharge the batteries, the 2000mah is about 6 months old and the 1600mah I just got in the mail 2 hours ago.
