M14 Fire Selector

So, i lend my M14 out to a friend one day just to see him literally run straight into a tree barrel first. Since i was still new to airsoft back then instead of trying to fix it, i just stuck it in my closet for a few years. A couple days ago i found it and decided it would make a good project. After the major fix (bent outer and inner barrels) i need to find the reason behind the fire selector failing keeping the gun on full auto. I asked around locally and found this is a fairly common problem that is easily prevented. Seeing as it already happened that doesn't help much. I tried searching the web but to no success. so now i ask you ap community. What parts do i need to replace, and what causes them to break?

What brand M14? Does the selector switch to semi, but still fire full auto? Or does the selector not even move?

If it's a TM/TM Clone, than it could be the cut-off lever is worn down, which is a pretty easy fix for a competent airsoft tech.

it's a tm clone and the selector moves.

Mine broke on my CA M14 and caused very similar problems.

More than likely it's the Selecter Bracket (league4 linked) mine was stuck in Semi and I pulled my gun apart and found the right side was busted
