Full stock problems

Postby pseudoanimosity » Sun Jan 30, 2011 10:52 am

So, the other day I went to AONW and got a CA full stock for my G&G GR-16 raider. The stock fits onto the body perfectly, but when I screw it into the spring guide in the gearbox, the gearbox doesn't turn over anymore with the screw fully tightened. The weird thing is, that when i loosen the screw just enough, the gearbox turns over perfectly, but the stock is wobbly. I've tried putting the stock buffer tube and stock assembly back onto the gun, and the same thing happens. I've also tried adjusting the motor height and that did not change anything, what could the problem be?

I've got no idea, frankly. Maybe something wrong with your spring guide; the little lock tabs could be touching one of the gears when you twist it

cut the end of the screw off 1/4 inch and see if that does it. cut in 1/8 inch incriments after that with a dremel cutoff wheel until the problem goes away after stock is fully tightened. the screw is too long as is pushing the spring guide forward and misaligning it causing a lockup. it could be preventing the spring from aligning and compressing properly during the cycle..

You might be able to just stack some washers in the stock to keep the screw from going so deep.
Improperly cutting the screw could cause the thread to deform and possibly crip some of the thread depending how you clamp it down.

this. its obviously a problem with the length of the screw. just space it up so it isn't going in as far. no need to cut it.

Turns out I put the spring guide in wrong when i rewired last time I opened the gearbox. I just opened it up, and fixed the spring guide, which stopped the problem.

Not trying to be a tool or anything, but how can you put a spring guide in wrong?

the washers would work to. good idea. he probly didnt line up the posts on the spring guide with the notches in the gearbox which caused the alignment issue.

I had it a quarter turn off from the way it should have been oriented, so the little prongs pointed to the top and bottom of the gearbox instead of into the sides.

And you were still able to close the gearbox?

Yeah, kinda weird, but it fit, and fired perfectly without the stock on.
