Well I guess all we can do is throw around opinions. Unless we get the guns on the range together to compare. Without proof, it's all hearsay.
However, I have seen guns that shoot close to 425 FPS (Our league limit in Humboldt) and they are so quiet you would have to hear it to believe it. One weapon comes to mind that got us all chuckling in disbelief it was so quiet. And It was right at 425 FPS.

It's not just air that makes noise in an AEG. Most of the noise comes from the motor and the gearbox. A weaker spring will increase ROF sometimes. But a higher voltage will incease ROF everytime. My sopmod shoots 26.5 Rounds per second at 420 FPS and it is more quiet than all of my other guns. And Some of them are below 400 FPS.

FPS is directly related to impact energy and range. Not so much with accuracy. There is much more of a chance of the target feeling and calling a hit with a higher FPS BB than with a low FPS BB.

Assuming this thing actually shoots the acclaimed 440 FPS, it is WAY TO HOT for AP games. The gearbox will have so much stress it is ridiculous.

It is a good gun, and the fact that it has the TBB will save you money when you pay to get a cheaper spring in it.

Remember, FPS is not everything. Unless you shoot .43 gram bb's out of your AEG, then you don't need that much power.

Well is the Dboys any better? I just need a m4 with around 400 fps, don't care if it's metal or plastic, and I want good internals for less than $150. Any thing helps.

The DBoys is nice, but don't come to AP games expecting to use it stock.

I don't have experience with D-Boys but I know people with Echo-1 and G&P guns that are happy with them.

I would concentrate on the gearbox quality. If you get a plastic body on your gun it will bring down the price a lot. Look for a gearbox that has bearings and reinforced gears.

I don't have much personel experience with the low end MFGs and guns. If you spend a little more like $200 - $250 there will be a big increase in quality.

In most stock guns, FPS doesn't really matter. It will still have average performance. Sure it may sound cool to other noobs, but it won't actually make a huge difference.

BUT

If you know what your doing and you build and mod an AEG to its limits, then every little bit of FPS counts. With higher FPS you can use heavier BB's which equals more range and accuracy IF you do it right. Usually, this does not just involve dropping in parts. Simply upgrading does help, but the best AEG's are modded to compensate for the short-cuts the manufacturers took to make them cheaper to produce.

To answer your question, go for the Dboys. The couple I've had didn't shoot >400. They usually settled somewhere around 380. If it does happen to shoot hot, a spring change is an easy fix.

I would suspect the gun is around 350 to 375 FPS. I have yet to get a gun that shoots as high as what the Ad lists it at. I would be shocked if it is above 400 FPS. If you call the stores customer service, they can probably give you the actual FPS you can expect. If not, you can call one of the bigger companies that test their products like ASGI or Evike.

My dboys M4 came shooting 390-410, but settled around 350. Get it, chrono it, and see what you have to deal with.

Well what gun is better. What one has better internals, take longer shots, and just last longer with the least work?

Go with the Dboys. Fix it when it breaks, and get some mid caps.

It is not a bad gun, but I would save the extra $50 and get a G&P of Red Wolf.

Does the Dboys have pretty good internals? I just want to make sure im not wasting my money. I want a gun that will last as long as possible.

I used my Dboys for 2 years before any issues. And it only broke because I upsidedown with it internally.

with the 10's of thousands of reviews of airsoft guns on youtube, it should be fairly easy to find where somebody took a new d-boys and a new g&g and chrono'd them and see what the fps is new from the box. i've looked at both guns there and they tell you nearly everything you need to know (nearly, not all).

That would require you to watch a review on Youtube, which is a painful experience.
