Kwa sr12

Postby mccarty95 » Wed Jun 08, 2011 6:50 pm

I'm thinking about buying the Kwa sr12. Has anyone had any personal experience with it? Is there any better m16/m4 or other assault rifles for around this price? Also, I have two 11.1v 5000mah lipos 35c/50c burst, would the Kwa hand 3s lipo. I heard it can.

It's a great rifle. I slammed mine full force into the ground and it just got a bit scratched, very sturdy. Good ROF even without a lipo. Shoots 400 out of the box. Bit long and heavy for an assault rifle tho, so it could use a bit of work in the hopup/barrel area.

My G&P got the ground scratched when i slammed it, not the other way around ;) The ROF with an 11.1 lipo is EXTREMELY fast. G&P's have been the sturdiest guns i have ever used and felt. I cannot stress enough how much I think a G&P will be the best option for an m4/m16.

lipo ready is a gimmick. it's a ploy by KWA to catch onto the scene of the then "soon to be lipo craze" and wanted to reassure people you could use those batteries in their guns. Their gearboxes have a reinforced front end but the very fact it uses bearings which are much more prone to wear than metal bushings is a bit misleading to be LIPO ready. What governing body states something is "lipo ready" what are the tests, the criteria.

the very manufacturer of a product is the one that came out with that claim not a seprate entity.

Also what does lipo ready mean? It doesn't mean it can withstand the abuse of the varying types of lipo batteries such as volts and burst. A 7.4v is much safer than a 11.1v but the high burst rate can change as well.

so you see it's all really just a tagline and one that shouldn't be used. It should read "sturdier internals" or some shit like that.

also 35/50c burst. Thats pretty extreme. I wouldn't trust that battery in any aeg.

In my personal opinion, you could do a lot better with $400.

I want to use these batteries because I have them. Why would you not trust it? It doesnt matter that it puts out 175 amps. Thats only what its draw rating is; the gun will only draw the amps it needs. The only bad thing would be if it did not put out enough amps. Nimh batteries usually don't put out enough amps. I don't care whether kwa says its lipo ready, Ive looked around annd I have come to the conclusion that the gun can run 11.1v. League 4, what better gun could i get for $400?

OR you could buy a KWA SR12 and not need to do a thing to it. It IS an already upgraded rifle right out of the box.

I have a KWA M4, not a SR12 but it has the same internals save the inner barrel. In the group of people I play with I out shoot a couple of A&K's which have been upgraded, a Classic Army that hasn't got anything done to it, and a G&G M14. My M4 is completely stock and shoots 395 dead with a great rate of fire out of a 9.6 NiMH.

That being said, I am putting a Precision 6.01, 509mm length barrel to help with range. But accuracy it works just fine.

This is my rifle.

so if you can draw your own conclusions from researching then why are you asking us for opinions in the first place?

Manufacturers are not spending money on R&D for different lipo applications. LIPO is the new battery fad for it's size to output ratio.

So i'm telling you that lipo ready is a gimmick and you have a false sense of security because KWA has said so. Especially since you want to use a 11.1v with a high burst feature. Shredded pistons or thrown out bearings from the high cyclic rate is going to be most likely your failure. If you want to go with 7.4v 20/25C lipos you would be fine but anything higher than that and you are asking for problems. But what do I know.
