kwa myth

Postby Mongrol » Mon Jul 25, 2011 6:58 pm

So iv heard many different stories and have been holding off making a purchase until i know for sure what to get. Do the 2GX kwa's only accept KWA brand buckings nubs and barrels? or can i buy any brand for those like madbull or systema? I dont want to spend the high amounts that kwa charges for there parts but i also dont want to buy parts that wont fit in my gun. Thanks.

You can put in other parts, but some parts like buckings can be a tight fit. You can file down the inside of your hop up to make it easier, and cut off a bit of the bucking's length so if it stretches it will still fit. I have a madbull tightbore, G&G bucking, and polar star nub in my KWA 2g hop up.

The 2GX is the gearbox to my knowledge that shouldn't affect barrels or buckings. Though buckings do tend to be a bit long out of the packaging.

Here is the differences between the gearboxes. If your interested.

over-rated or not (yes i zoomed in to read that) it works like a charm for me and my mags feed fine. I have no problem spending the little extra money for kwa products, i was just checkin to see if i bought the cheaper stuff from other brands if id be wasting money.

I might be the odd man out, but I love my KWA. Have it running weekly (and running hard, not necessarily on shooting but I play rough), and its been 14 months at least, and its been caked in mud, soaked to the gearbox, and still works great.
Was finicky with mags, but I filed them slightly, and they work perfectly now :D

Honestly, all brands of M4s have magazine fit issues. However, in other brands, you only lose velocity when the mags don't fit right. In a KWA, they may not feed. Get around enough and you'll see the same issues with every brand.

Any of the new model KWA guns will easily take aftermarket buckings and barrels. On the old ones, any aftermarket bucking was tight. On the new ones they fit fine.

Also, whining about the mags is like crying that your performance car only takes premium gasoline. If you want a precision engineered piece of machinery, be prepared to support it with the correct components.

Its more like you buy that great fancy performance car and it only takes premium gas from Shell and no other gas station even tho the gas there is perfectly fine.

This weekend my pal forgot his mag for his KWA. He couldn't use ANY of the teams M4 mags. 4 different types and brands and none of them would work.
$400 paperweight. KWA's are great guns for sure. But the fact that they are so picky about what parts they will use very much diminishes their value. They aren't so much better with their "precision engineering" that one should have to buy such specific parts for their standardized platform.

Honestly, I've seen many of the KWA M4s work with multiple brands of magazines. Some may not work with MAG magazines or chinese box sets, but will work fine with CA and S.Arms Midcaps.

I understand anyone that doesn't like KWA because of their experience with them. However, having seen a huge number of M4 style AEGs, I can say that other brands can be just as picky.

Magpul PTS Emags and the Green label works well with my KWA SR7; no miss-feeding or fitting issues. Search the KWA USA forums for after market comparability list. KWA owners posted a lot of good information here:

Come to the dark side and buy a KWA. I'm happy with my SR7.

KWA mag problems have nothing on King Arms M4's. King Arms frequently don't even work with the mags shipped in the box.

My Gen1 KWA M16 is very picky about mags. My SR10 and SR12 have worked with any mag I've tried.

My bigger gripe about my KWA M16 was the lack of shims. And the motor misalignment...And the lack of a hop up nub...And finally (probably my fault) the inner barrel got somehow bent..

But I'm pretty sure mine was a lemon and I've heard only good things about them from teammates and players at my local field. I've done away with the entire M4 line of rifles. Finicky design of the V2 i think is to blame.. Much happier with my V3's that I run now ;)

KWA mechboxes are sized to take KWA Gears with no shims. They don't need them, as the bearings, box, and gears are specifically sized for each other.

Lack of a hop-up nub and bent barrel could be the user, or it could be defect, but one instance isn't indicative of the company.

Glad you're getting good results with the V3, though.
