This is incorrect. You do not need an upgrade piston unless you are doing something drastic such as a high RoF setup, or bumping your fps over 400, such as for a DMR.
A polycarbonate (lexan) piston works quite well for most guns, and they are fairly inexpensive compared to full metal tooth pistons. Also, it's a good idea to stick with a polycarbonate piston, that way if something goes wrong you're replacing a 20$ part vs. an entire gear set. I use this piston in both of my guns.

tl;dr Piston upgrades aren't necessary until your old piston breaks, or you upgrade lots of other parts....unless you bought a G&P
