Kwa and what weight of bbs to use

Postby Slowgun » Fri Sep 09, 2011 5:12 pm

Ok so did a really brief search of AP's forums for a thread like this, and I couldn't find one, so sorry if there is a similar thread. So I'm debating getting a KWA SR7 and I was curious if I would be able to use .20 bbs with this or should I use .25? .30? I know I could use whatever weight I want, but I am more or less looking for what you guys prefer for your guns and whether you think .20 bbs would do damage to the sr7 or any kwa for that matter. Thank you for the help guys

well i'd say .25's because they aren't that much more than .20's and they (for me at least) make my M4 very accurate

Very rarely should an AEG need over .30 for bb's. If you are pushing faster then 400fps in an upgraded DMR, then .36 might be nice. Just remember, the heavier the bb, the more expensive they are. And the bags don't have as many rounds in them.

Ok well I guess I'll buy a bag of .25s, but I already have a bag of .20s. So if I use the .20s up, will they damage the sr7?

I'd guess that they wouldn't damage it, but you might have completely crappy accuracy.

No, they won't hurt it. Keep the .20's as they are what events chrono with (if you are supposed to provide your own ammo).

jester is on the mark, use something between .25 and .30 for the best range and accuracy. .20s are fine too, they will just fly all over the place. heavier ammo works as well, but you wont have the velocity to push it out hard enough to be effective. don't use .12s in an aeg if you want it to continue to work in six months.

I suggest getting a bag of each. Then shoot each and decide which works better. Try it under controlled conditions, though. For example, groups of 50 BB's at a given range on a piece of paper, then distance testing with a fixed gun.

Different guns, different barrels, different hopups, different...well you get the idea...all perform....differently. Try it, see what you like best.

my KWA M4A1 usually shoots best with .25's or .28's. .25's are slightly cheaper but .28's are slightly more accurate, at least for me. As jester was saying save the .20's for chrono's at events that way you don't have to buy a new bag every time. Also anything over a .28 at least for me starts to reduce my range sufficiently enough to make me not want to use them.

Some KWAs actually say right on the box "Designed for .25g and heavier ammo"

But yeah, .25 or .28 = more accurate than .20s, and it shouldn't reduce your FPS or range by much.

buy .28's from riddick. I went from .25's to .28's and noticed a big difference in my accuracy. And his prices aren't that bad for them either.
