Hi Guys,

I've been looking at 2 CA guns, that are within my budget. First is the CA SAR Offizer M41 FS, and the other, a CA AR10. I understand that the M41 weighs in at about 8 pounds, whereas the AR10 is probably ungodly heavy. The magazines for the M41 are easy to find, as I've sourced a box pack from some online company. (I can't remember the name) Also, are there any must haves for both of these? Or am I buying a worthless paper weight?
It's very hard to get information on these guns, the only one I read was saying that the SAR was a nice gun.

Thanks, Poebot

Can't tell if trolling or serious...

I've got the AR-10. Good solid gun. It shoots hot of the box, or at least mine did. It has the elongated version 2 gearbox, so finding a different spring to put in was a pain. Mags are kind of expensive, but I only run with three mids and one high-cap.

he's not trolling. the M41 is one of the better G3 platforms on the market. just about anything CA will be a good gun.

I disagree, I find that compared to other brands for similar prices CA doesn't have much to offer. I've never been impressed with their parts, and can't stand their cylinder components.

hope it isn't an older G&P, or you are going to have to replace your gears and piston.

doesn't mean it isn't an older model. some of that stuff can sit on the shelves for months before getting sold.

Any way to tell if it's older?

im not sure on the external characteristics of the different generations of G&Ps. i do know that i have had two brand new G&P guns tear apart their gears and/or pistons within 5000 rounds. both were purchased more than two years ago, but i have heard of many other people having similar issues. its a shame, because the G&Ps are otherwise very nice guns. i still have one of the guns that ate itself, but it has a different gearset and piston. after those were replaced it's run like a champ.

New ones still do that. My XM110's gear axles came off just removing them from the gearbox... The piston also stripped. I still prefer G&P over other brands though.

G&p's newest 8mm box (2010-present) rocks as far as my experience has been. I had the zombie killer m4a1 by g&p. Was completely flawless and outperformed a lot of the Kwa's. Now I have the magpul g&p m4 full carbine length barrel. The gun is a great addition to my collection and has the same amazing gearbox, which was the main reason for buying it. The magpul m4 shoots quite hot though, so be warned

G&P gears do that :?. And that bevel gear only has two contact points if I'm not mistaken.. I love their pistons though (white ones)
