KWA shooting tips

Postby Muskrat » Wed Sep 28, 2011 1:40 pm

I bought a brand new KWA V2 gearbox M4, I am new to airsoft and understand the concept of how a hop up works but lack experience.

OK here is my problem

When I shoot the BBs run out and fade to the right, sometime several feet other times a few inches. The fade is bad enough to where I cant adjust my iron sights to even get close. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Have you cleaned your barrel out? If you haven't there might be something in there

When I cleaned out my Kwa I got silicone oil on the hop up bucking but they just dropped off with the hop up on or off. If you have a new bucking could try that, fixed mine right up.

With respect to what Beran said my Kwa M4a1 has yet to like .25 and up bbs

I've owned 5 KWA m4's and a friend fields one other. We only shoot .28's and have never had a problem.

the KWA guns say right on the box that they are designed with .25s in mind. i shoot .25s or .30s out of all of my guns to significantly better effect than .20s. your mileage may vary.

if you are shooting decent ammo my next guess would be reseat or replace the bucking and check to make sure everything is aligned correctly. if the nub gets installed funny it can cause the bucking to engage the BB at an angle, which can give it some unwanted horizontal spin which would result in floaters to one side or the other. usually it can be fixed just by taking it apart and reinstalling it.

I use .25s in my KWA and it shoots great. I get about 150 feet out of it with about a 2 foot spread with everything stock.

Like Beran said, the barrel might not be straight. I had a similar problem when I took my gun apart over the summer but a quick break down fixed it. KWAs are a bit finicky so it might be that it is slightly off.

Thanks for the ideas, I will be looking into all of them.

I have cleaned my barrel a few times, I did find some oil residue in the barrel. I tend to think its a bucking issue, it shot this way right out of the box.

the 2gx bucking has been hit or miss. I would swap it out with one of those mad bull blue buckings.

The bucking is definitely the first thing to replace. I had the same problem with mine.

Had the same problem, washing the bucking fixed it. Wash it in dish soap and rinse / dry thoroughly. Once they get silicon on them they don't work anymore. I don't recommend the mad bull, I tried it. It is a very tight fit and it never performed as well as a clean KWA bucking.

i love the blue madbull buckings. i have installed them in ten or fifteen of my guns with outstanding results. they are a bit tougher to install, but it is worth it in my opinion.

agreed could be the alignment, i also second the madbull blues, I have had great results in them from JGs, to ICS's, Also ran with one for a long time in my 590 fps sniper until I found the King arms purples

I took the inner barrel out, cleaned it and looked at the hop up unit, I did not take it apart, it looks like its easy to break. It looks like it has 2 pins to line thing up, on is longer and looks easy to break so I did not mess with it yet. I will look online to see a parts diagram on it before I take it apart. I am sure there are some loose parts in there.
