What. It's actually completely safe...And free.

Uh. Because you can't unlock the gearbox when it locks up from semi automatic fire.

OP: I agree with Leauge 4. as common as FETs are these days don't do the harder of the two options.

Suggestion from experience...buy a stock SR-25 and play it for a few games. Then decide what you "need" to upgrade.

You do not have to open the gearbox to unlock it when it locks up... Use a dental hook (or some other small radius curved instrument) to reach up into the gearbox through the motor hole. Hook the anti-reversal latch and pull... Works just fine. If you get one long enough you don't even need to pull the grip off, just pull out the motor...

Or you could just move the selector switch if you're just going to cut it.
Another solution is to get an ARL and cut a small notch in it so you can manipulate it with a flat head screwdriver.

It's still worth it to get a fet. You don't know what you're missing till then..

If you do go with the fet, wait until the new SW 2012's come out.

Cutting a notch in the AR latch still means you have to take the gearbox out of the lower to get to it. My plan means you don't have to remove it from the lower. All you have to do is pull the motor plate off, pull off the wires, and pull out the motor (all things you should check when you gun stops working anyways...).

One of the echo1 tech support videos show exactly what jester is talking about. It was a pain taking a gearbox down until i saw that and used it.

Where would one find an elongated Cylinder?
Does the L85 also use the long GB?

Also, for semi only, can i not simply cut the selector plate in half so that the selector switch does not move it, then put it on the connectors? It would take away the safety function... But I can go without that.

IT WORKS.
Just did a few weeks ago on an M16...
Good tip; quite the time saver.

You still have to take the grip off and remove the motor, whereas a ~$20 burst wizard will solve it and save your trigger contacts.

I think he tried to, and then attempted to cram V2 parts into an EV2, realized it was wrong, and came back here..

No, you have to take the motor plate off, and remove the motor. You don't have to remove the grip (which is easy to do anyways). You seem to be preaching that your way is superior to all others, and therefore only you are correct. Why not let him do it the way he wants? Your way cost's money... which contrary to popular belief is not abundant for all. My way of unlocking a gearbox is free. And it works every time. If your's doesn't work, you will still have to revert to my method. Ergo, my method is superior.

A fet is kinda a necessity in a DMR imo.. I agree not everyone has monies to spend, but you have to remember:

By the way, Nec, I get my money from my Job. Were you getting paid over Minimum Wage when you were 16?

"My" method works every time too... It also takes less time, isn't expensive, has more pros than just being able to unlock the gearbox, and can save your trigger contacts. I personally prefer it over disassembling and unhooking the latch, so I mentioned it, and why I thought it was better, I never said he COULDN'T use your method, I just put it out there, calm down.
