MP5K PDW Customization.

Postby Icepick » Sun Oct 23, 2011 3:23 pm

I've recently bought a cheap-o Galaxy MP5K PDW for $30, and wanted to spice it up a bit. Although this might not be the best field weapon. For $30 it is, in my opinion, worth doing something with. The two basic things I'm looking for are a snazzy paintjob, and a suppressor. What are some ideas you guys have for making this thing look good? (I am looking for a longer suppressor that would allow me to put a longer barrel in the gun.)

If you got pictures of your MP5K's, post 'em!

(Here is the MP5K I bought.)

On a side note; What are some good (but inexpensive) mid-caps that are compatible with this gun? And what is your guys' experience with them?

Its a prefect run n' gun weapon, I have a tbb in mine and it fires like any stock m4 cqb.

Here are some I use, they feed great even though there getting worn.

If your going to get a suppressor best bet would to get a quick detach if you can. If the flashhider won't accept one, you'll have to get a thread adapter.
Personally I like mine short though.

Please don't throw a longer barrel in the PDW. You'd have to open up the gearbox to change the cylinder, since it's ported pretty much all the way forward for the 110mm barrel in there. Get a small ~100mm mock suppressor if you REALLY must, but I'd advise against it speaking from experience...

Don't expect to shoot lasers with this thing either.

@ Vega: Thank you for the input! And no, he isn't retarded.

@ RiotingCows: Again, thank you. I will be sure to get mag middies for this gun. This is going to be an indoor and outdoor weapon, so hopefully I don't run into too much trouble laying down fire at range. Any suggestions for a better battery? As you know, the space is very limited!

@ Minerva: Thanks! If I got a cylinder that isn't ported, do you think that I could run a longer barrel? Or is it best to keep the current cylinder and get a tightbore? I don't remember much about cylinders and the whole works, doesn't it just affect the range of a weapon?

Thanks for the input guys, glad to get some info!

No.

Full cylinder is for something like a 509mm barrel. If you threw in a 200mm mock suppressor and a 247mm barrel (barrel quality is more important then bore btw), you'd need something like a mid-way ported cylinder.

IMO just keep the stock cylinder, and throw in a Prommy 6.03.

I put a stock TM p90 barrel in my MP5k and I didn't need to change the cylinder.

Icepick, I'd look for a nice tiny 7.2 lipo as the stock stick battery is worthless.

I'd like to add a suppressor just for the look, and pertaining to that I'm not trying to break the bank here either. Is it really that much more important that I get a Prommy over a Madbull 6.03? I am faced with getting the more expensive Prommy barrel, vs. saving ~$25 and going with the madbull, and using some of the extra money for a cylinder.

So by mid-way ported cylinder, you literally mean mid-way down the cylinder right? Something like this?

Did you notice a significant increase in accuracy with the p90 barrel?

I didn't really see a difference. I mainly put it in since it was sitting around and I had a can on it as well.

I suppose you wouldn't "need" to.. but you would lose some velocity..
Actually a 7.4v/11.1v stick fit just fine in it..

Yuppers. That cylinder.

Trust me though, MP5k's are just moar fun when they are super compact.

Oh and: My MP5k the way you want. It looks cool, but I'd rather have no mock suppressor in CQC
