Costume contest 2011?

Obviously it is a little late to start one now, but after searching the forums, I couldn't find anything posted about why we didn't have a contest this year, or if there is a contest, I can't find anything for it.

So...what gives?

My guess is either trouble getting sponsors excited in a sluggish economy or an attempt to weed out fairweather APers and cosplayers, as to make next year's contest SUPER AWESOME!

Heck...far as Im concerned...who cares about the prizes? It should be more about the fun factor.

I didn't have time this year. I'm trying to finish AP 5.0. I figure some of you guys might want that just as badly. There's more complaints and drama every year we host the contest... about cosplayers, unfairness, popularity contests, etc. I figure everyone needs a break.

But, I hope to host another photo related contest before then - something entirely different.

But this year - if I were to put up like a free for all costume gallery for APers to just post their halloween costumes if they have them - like Rate my AEG or the Loadout gallery - would you guys use it?

I probably wouldn't put anything together this year just for an open gallery.

I love the competition, and I like seeing how accurate of a costume I can make with the minimal gear I have (it's been good every year so far). But without the contest I don't have as much incentive, and I usually don't do a costume other than for the AP contest.

Looking forward to next year and the alternate contest you mentioned.

Thanks for the update. I would say don't worry about a gallery, just let everyone save their costumes for another time.
