I have read several forums on the SCARs and it seems like they are pretty good. I also have heard that VFC makes a set of gears that are so called "self-shimming" and that's really what I'm asking about, are these gears good? Do they accually "self-shim"? will they hold up to a 11.1 lipo? Do the SCARs have them? I've looked around on AP about them but couldn't find any information on them.
I have another question regarding battery installation in the SCAR's stock. Does the cheek piece lift up far enough to install the battery, or is there some other way? Is it a small or large type connector? will the stock fit a large type battery?

The self shimming gears are basically useless. I opened mine up a short while after I got it to change the spring, and the self-shimmed gears are "shimmed" by using springs that look like they were taken out of a clicky-pen. That being said, yes, they will work with a LiPo just about as good as any other stock gun, but it's something to think about replacing.
The battery is installed in the stock by removing the butt-plate, and sliding it in. I can fit a 1800 MaH 11.1v LiPo in the stock, along with 6 wires, and an Extreme-fire MOSFET, with the stock at the #3 position. It comes stock with a small type connector, but I would strongly recommend making the switch to deans ASAP.
