CA SAW hop up problems

Postby Muskrat » Fri Dec 02, 2011 7:46 pm

I have the CA M249 bought brand new at Airsoft Outlet, the hop up is not working properly or so it seems. The BBs drop into the dirt at about 70 feet out, I have turned the hop up a little at a time passing the full range of motion in both directions, nothing changes. Can someone give me some tuning tips, please.

Take out the nub and get the ink tube from a ball point pen and cut a new nub out of that that is a little longer. A new bucking probably wouldn't hurt either.

And, the baddie goes in vertically. That is, if I recall correctly.

Do you have too much silicone in the gun? Did you lube up the mag. I had the exact same problem with my m14 after cleaning the mags. Took nearly 1k rounds to start working. Take it out and clean it first.

The CA SAW hop up is known for hop up adjustment problems. It takes very little adjustment to gain what you need. After that it will interfere with the BB flight path. If you are indeed adjusting as much as you state, that may be the problem in itself. Before you mess with anything, go back to neutral hop up and adjust less than a 1/4 turn each way and see the results. Very tiny adjustments.

I Own the CA m249, and another issue they have that might be partial cause of your shots is that they have a bad airseal around the bucking. You'll want to get some teflon tape if you can, and put a single wrap around the end of your bucking before you put it in. It made the difference of almost 50 FPS for me when I did it.

And as was suggested, check your hopup nub and make sure it isn't too soft. I fixed another guys SAW and the nub was so soft I could cut it with my fingernail.
