Postby Bircher » Fri Dec 30, 2011 6:00 pm

my friend is looking for VN style magazines for his m16a3(hes converting it VN m16a1) and he needs to know what brands are compatible with an AGM M16A3.

edit: he does not care if the mags are high caps, mid caps, or real caps

How informative....

Magpul is out, because they weren't around then, and if you're going for the legit Vietnam era look, he should search for stamped metal magazines. I did some searching and here's what I came up with:

Mids:

Inexpensive Hicaps:

I understand your friend doesn't care if they're mids, standards, or hicaps, but standards are hard to play with if you don't know what you're doing, and if you're about to spend $50+ on magazines I would suggest figuring out what you're looking for. Hicaps are great for starters since you don't really need a vest, you can just pack a magazine in each pocket, and one in the gun and you're basically good to go, but if you already have a vest mids are nice, since you don't have to wind them, and they don't rattle like a cement mixer full of marbles.

EDIT: relevance.

Basically all M4 magazines work in all M4/M16 style rifles, if you're concerned about it I would call somewhere like Airsoft Outlet NW, or AirsoftGI and ask a customer service rep about it.

Also the VN highcaps are around 120 rnds or so. I have one that sits because it's pointless for me to use it. Does a 10 to 15 round burst before you need to wind it again. I would do real caps if anything if i did a VN style mag.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

They're not quite that low, but the hicap I linked only holds ~70 more rounds than the mids that I also linked, you might want to seriously consider going with midcaps if you have the gear to hold them, although getting pouches can be tricky since they're so short...
