Cut-off lever problem

V2 gearbox, assembled from the ground up.

The Problem: When the selector plate is in the full-automatic position, the trigger pulls, but when it is in the semi-automatic position, it acts as if it is on safe. I have already ruled out the safety trigger stopper, so that seems to leave only the cut-off lever to be the problem.

So, what could be going wrong?
I am not familiar with how the cut-off lever works in respect to the trigger, and have never installed a wire harness by myself before, so there is a high probability that I made a mistake in assembly. An in-depth explanation of that functionality would probably be the most helpful

See if i can make an understandable attempt at typing an explanation out.

On the bottom of your sector gear there is a little nub, or tear drop, as you are in semi auto, the gear spins, cycles the gun, and that tear drop hits the back of the cut off lever popping the trigger block up ,and the spring that's attached to the block pulls it away from the contacts. Thus making is only shoot once. When you release and pull the trigger again, it resets this action.

As the gun is in full auto, the selector switch has a little spring on it that pushes on the cut off lever, and moves it up to where it wont release the trigger block (i'm sure i'm calling it the wrong thing) so full auto ensues.

Some fixes i've found is to stretch the selector plate spring that connects to the cut off lever, provides more push on it to get it to the correct position. Make sure that when you assemble the box, that the cut off lever flops around freely (before any gears or springs are attached) and that the screw isn't bound up holding it in. Make sure that it's just all aligned correctly. Sometimes pulling it apart and re-assembling it helps.

It's easier to explain in person, i hope this helps. Or it could just confuse the whole thing even more and i should have kept quiet good luck.

Oh, also make sure that you have to safety lever in the right position. It should only install one way, but it has a spring on it, and the selector switch moves it. It may not be moving it out of the way properly.

The safety lever is in the front lower part of the box right in front of the trigger arm just below the trigger contacts.

The safety lever is dropping just how it should, so i know that's not the problem.


So, when I'm assembling the trigger mechanism, is there something specific I should pay attention to so it goes in the right position?



Also, how does the cut-off lever pull the "trigger block" away from the trigger? Does it raise it, or what?***** Edit: never mind, I figured this question out.

Further edit: I think all I have to do is make the selector plate spring a little tougher, because the cut-off lever is relatively difficult to rotate, as if it is too tight around the little circle it sits on.

The cut off lever should flop around easily. If it's tight on the part is sits on it's not on correctly. Make sure there isn't a washer or a spacer between the screw and the cut off lever. Or just back off the screw a little bit. But it should be able to move freely.
