Yep. I've been waiting for this since Bill first posted it six months ago.

I want to be able to figure out travel time and so forth. Just want to know if we are starting at 8am someplace that takes me 2 hours to get to or if it will take longer.

Transpo?

Postby Betty Blue » Sat Sep 01, 2007 4:04 pm

I'd love to compete and finaly get a chance to meet a few fellow snipers. Anyone coming down from the Seattle area that can help out with tranport?

There may be one. If anything, it'd be great to see you make it down!

is there any chance of anyone passing through Philomath or even going through Albany on I5 who might be willing to hook me up with a ride?

If you're going to go to war against a major enemy, go; knock the hell out of him fast, and go in there to kill him and get it over with.

What's the penalty for a missed shot?
This scenario seems fundamentally flawed. Sniping isn't about time...it's about retrieving your intel, or making your shot, without being detected. That seems ridiculous that there's no penalty for being spotted. What's to stop me from running within 100 yards of the target, and then crouch walking until I have a half decent shot? So what if I get caught 5 times in twenty minutes. Let's say that I get caught 5 times in 20 minutes, but I finally get a shot off after twenty minutes. Hypothetically, I hit the third ring on each shot, and don't get marked. That gives me a 33 minute time for that stalk, while everyone else is crawling around for an hour. Seems like an easy win to me. Heck, I might do it with a pistol.
Put me in my place if I need it, but it seems like it would make more sense to me to have a TMF for being spotted at all, and the win comes down to the best shot, where score is determined by distance from bullseye.
What if there were more sniper skills that were tested for the purposes of a win. Such as, attention to detail, best field-made ghillie suit, breath/trigger control tests, etc.
Any thoughts?

Scoring:

Time is the determining measure. Your actual time, and the adjust time for your shooting skills:

After the second shot is fired both shots will be scored. The concentric rings on the targets provided will be zones. A center mass "bullseye" will be score a "0 min", while each successive ring will be scored 2 minutes, 3 min, 4 min, and so on. The only "0 min" penalty will be a neck or head shot. These are considered guaranteed target reducers.

If the observer mark's a shooter on the first shot it is a 15 minute penalty
If the observer mark's the shooter on the second shot it is a 10 minute penalty

example:
First shot: bullseye (0 min)
Second shot: 3 ring (3 min) (Shooter gets marked: 10min)
Time: 64 min for stalk
Adjusted time: 77 min for completed stalk

Looks like Bill already has what your asking. As far as getting spotted on the move, you have to go back to the starting position. Read page 1.

We will issue punch cards instead of making the sniper move back to the start position. It will be a flat BIG AND PAINFUL deduction.

We've added two more sponsors!

Riddick is also throwning down!

This is going to be an interesting event to say the least.

Start time will be 10am Sunday the 16th.

I will post directions to the field tomorrow.

Also, I suggest all competitors show up early and check the field out and garnish their gear accordingly.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!
