What is the minimum age limit?

Postby mooply321 » Mon May 07, 2007 11:11 pm

I was just wondering what the minimum age limit is ...I know that you have to have written concent of your parents if you are under 18 to play. Can anyone give me an answer?

Depends on the host for the game and what he/she sets it at.

Generally, if I am running an event, its 15 (with some wiggle room if a parent is coming out, and wants to bring their 14 year old, or a 14 year old who has shown themselves at other peoples games to be real squared away - such as Bentley).

It just depends who is hosting it. Most of the games I play at are 18+ with NO wiggle room.

Best thing you can do is go to some games that will let you in, and prove you're not an asshat. That goes a LONG way for the younger guys around here.

937th OSK lets young players in fi they are part of a team's mentorship program, otherwise, most limit the age at 14-17.

The problem is if a young person such as myself want to go to an oraganized airsoft event they might not let us play becasue we are to young. The problem with this being if we like airsoft enough and can't play at one of these games then we have to resort to doing it in our backyards and then you risk the neihboors getting freaked out and calling the cops. Also playing in your backyard just isn't as fun. I am hoping that most game managers let people like me in, who are mature and ...pretty damn good at airsoft.

Keep an eye on the events forums. If it doesn't specify an age limit, PM the organizer. Here's one going up this weekend. Also, as a suggestion, have your folks meet whoever is organizing the event. It goes a long way for parent/airsoft relationships when they meet the organizers and realize "oh, it's not just a bunch of nutjobs running around with guns!".

You need an adult to come out with you. You probably have some cool dad that would enjoy shooting all of you - get someone hooked. It's not hard. Airsoft is very addictive. :)

Most games have a 14 limit. BattleSim has no age limit as long as there is an adult that will play with you. Once you've proven yourself (ves) you can be vouched for.

I'm sure you have gotten an ear-full of the problems that young immature players present on the field, so you (unfairly) are overcoming every bad scene that has ever happened with young players in all of history. If you don't know what they problems have been, I can list them for you.

Find a team, or a 'sponsor' that will take you on in one of the next big games. If I am going, I'm always game to take responsibility for a few younger players as long as your parents are approving (and have signed the waiver). There are a few teams that take younger players on.

I play with a group that lets younger players come (with a call from your parents), as long as they have their own gear. It's a one-time deal tho; if you screw up and are a jerk, you get bounced. Reputation can overcome any age-limit (with some legalities taken care of) you just need your first 'big break'. :)

The best deal tho is to hook in the dad.

Thanks alot "hotcurry" thats some good advice and i would appreciate maybe a list of things the older players don't like to see from the younger one's.... I know the obvious ones but that would be great.

Mooply, just come out to a game.

Be mature, and respectful, and you will be liked.

Don't worry.
