What is a PTOC type face mask

Postby Shepherd » Fri Jun 27, 2008 11:53 am

I have seen in the event messages for PTOC that a face mask is needed. My only experience with face masks are with Paintball masks and my first, last and only ever Airsoft mesh mask. They did not allow a check weld to the stock.

Can you guys point me at some links of masks that:

Work
Fit close to face
Do not exhaust exhaled breath into eye protection (i.e. do not cause fogging)

Thanks

Use a balaclava. The UnderArmour hoods work great, just don't put it over your nose so your hot breath doesn't vent right into your eyeballs.

Shepard,

This is what I use in the arena, and it is perfect for PTOC standards.

Helmet
Mesh Goggles
Neoprene face mask

With this setup your head, face, ears are all protected, and with mesh there is no fog. We dont require actual plastic masks, just no direct exposure to the teeth, eyes, ears.

If you dont like the thought of mesh, There is an excellent paintball mask at GI Joe, we ordered 3 of them. They are spendy, but it covers all of your head, and you can cheek your weapon if you have a higher profile optic. i can barely cheek it with my MP5 with an Eotech mounted to it.

There are people who still get in there with only shooting glasses. And we wont stop them from playing, but we continuously remind them of the serious risk they are running without full face protection.

Hope this helps.

If you choose a paintball mask, make sure you get a thermal and not a normal one. Meaning crazy super layer shit with the goggles which means no fogging up. Although that does mean you can't properly use your sights.
